But not that it won't completely solve it (both with or without a station): if a train is waiting on the crossing for a green light the train coming from the other track still has to stop. So it's a partly compromise, but not the best solution. You could decide to make all block as long as your longest trains, but that is quite a hassle to do and takes up a lot of space.
At last you could decide to make a flyover, as done in modern real life more often these days (at least in Western Europe, but the UK may be an exception). There's some nice flyover viaduct somewhere floating on the internet for lomo, dunno where though.
Well I use such viaducts on highspeed lines, on local ones traffic is not so heavy to bother. The problem is my freight network couse its pretty big and has plenty of branches. Sometimes when it's really needed I use flyovers but it doesnt look good. I just would like to make the network the most realistic and the most effective. I know its not possible in Loco to get both but Im trying to max it. Also I have standard for trains ex. max 20 tiles for freight trains, 15 for fast passenger train and 8 for local train. It's very hard to create such network just becouse such solution needs too much space, especially for freight lines. I thought that there might be some mod for it.
Some examples of flyovers where it looks good but uses some space

And the junction where viaducts would look stupid.

Some of mine from a map I created for myself. The map was built for my own taste (easy, but nice and big tracks). If anyone want the map, let me know.
More screenshots on the next post.

My new scenario. It's very easy just to make it look good. Also disabled creating junctions on roads so towns are not growing.

So I'm bored, right? I open up Lomo, select the Midwest 100-Year Challenge, set up 2 basic A to B bus lines in Chicago to keep the bankruptcy fairy from visiting , and leave it on super-fast-forward for a few hours while I do some housework. The result is a hideous morass of AI railroad track.

I know that, I own all 3 (and I am fully aware that Chris was only a consultant for the 3rd). I just mean that this stretch of track is pointless.

I always try to build as much as possible to cut off these routes. But when there's no interference, they go crazy and build over each other repeatedly. I saw one where 2 of them must have been building at the same time so they ended up having tracks that were wound together...
Started a new game in the diesel age, randomly generated the map. Enjoy!

Why are there gaps in your freight stations?

I'm not sure, I just like combining the 1-sided station and the full freight platform.
