Old news. He revealed all that on twitter ages ago.

Me and some guys streamed our build and decided to make a time-lapse out of it. Unfortunately most of the footage was lost, so here is the last part of it
He is NOT messing with what we have now. He's adding a brand new game mode (I don't like at all, to be honest). He mentioned this a little more than one year and a half ago.
So there will be Creative (updated with new features, something like what we have now with TooManyItems mod), Survival (vanilla) and Adventure. Adventure mode will be probably played on community made maps and will work like very classic RPG's out there, with NPC villages and quests and stuff (including XP and permadeath). Nothing like anything you've ever seen in Minecraft. At least that's what he said all that time ago, dunno how much his plans changed since.
But one thing is totally 100% certain: Survival as we know it won't change. Not even a little.

oh? i really hope you're right.. (i've seen no recent evidence that says you're right, only stuff that seems to be being added to survival - that's the implication anyway)

I'm semi-with you there, although, since i know now that survival won't be changed (much), i like it better as i won't have to play with it
(sorry about the post, i'm not feeling very literate at the moment :L )

He's done well to ruin it forever 4 months before it's released. It took the TF2 team nearly a year and a half to ruin that game forever for the first time.

Honestly, everything that Notch has added has, for somebody somewhere, ruined Minecraft forever.
For a game that's been so ruined, and so many people having quit and asked for a refund, it's a miracle people are still buying and playing the game.

I guess, but... you are buying the game in beta, so you should expect changes and your contraptions to break at some point.
