Hello,

i found something, which confused me a bit:

Can you say a "Fruchtplantage" will be "aufgeforstet"? I either would say "gepflanzt".

Please Feedback.

I think you're right. "angepflanzt" is IMO the appropriate word. The problem with that is, that the verb has to relate to both, woods and fruit plantations (maybe even more, dunno now, anything being planted). I changed it to "angepflanzt" for now.

If it's needed for plantations and woods to use the same word, I think best solution would be the term „angelegt“ which suits well for both.

Hi,
I'm having another look at the language file. Still there are some inconsistencies and some words I'm not quite happy with:

a)
STR_3053_CENTER_MAIN_VIEW_ON_STATION
{BLACK}Centre main view on station location
{BLACK}Hauptansicht zur Station scrollen

STR_8848_CENTER_MAIN_VIEW_ON_TRAIN
{BLACK}Centre main view on train's location
{BLACK}Hauptansicht zum Zug scrollen

I'm not quite happy with "scrollen". What's the opinion about these (and a lot of similar strings), rewriting them to
{BLACK}Hauptansicht auf Zug zentrieren

b)
I'm not happy with some of the default station names like "Anbau", "Zweig" and "Nebengleis". Proposals for nicer replacements?

What is the english string of each of these?

Annex, Branch and Sidings
But I don't think we have to be too close to the English original here...

@dih: guess how I got aware of these inconsistencies :P Fully operational it will be just fantastic :)

Generally I like "ausrichten", but then we have to give an article ("Ansicht auf Zug ausrichten" vs. "Ansicht auf den Zug ausrichten" and "... auf Station ausrichten" vs. "... auf die Station ausrichten" (I used the given examples)). Is it possible to use genders and articles or has this to be hardcoded for every string (may be unflexible)?

Each of those is a seperate string anyway. So using a proper article isn't a problem. Otherwise genders could be used, though.

What about Zweigbahnhof und Nebenbahnhof bzw. Zweigbf. und Nebenbf. if it is too long?

i'm pretty sure i said this before. to really fix the station naming, one would need a different set of names for each station type.

anyway, "Abzweigung" is a perfectly fine name for a bus station. i kind of remember that TTO had the name "Abstellgleise"

what about "Rangierbahnhof"?

Thx, Eddi. Slowakisch it is now.

Another issue which I stumbled upon:
Meinungen?

Why..? We do have a plural "gender", don't we? Eddi introduced it some time back.
By the way, you slipped back to german in the middle of your post again :P (or was it on purpose this time since this should only matter to people who understand german anyway?)

Okay, comments to the batch of changes today...

first, what I already wrote, you can use the plural "gender" instead of the female gender for

Code: Select all

      27 +STR_000F_PASSENGERS :{G=w}Passagiere
      32 +STR_0014_GOODS :{G=w}Waren
      37 +STR_0019_VALUABLES :{G=w}Wertsachen
      40 +STR_001C_FRUIT :{G=w}Früchte
      41 +STR_001D_DIAMONDS :{G=w}Diamanten
      42 +STR_001E_FOOD :{G=w}Nahrungsmittel
next, you did not include all the cargos (naybe the translator update got triggered before you were finished with your changes?):

Code: Select all

      47 STR_0023_RUBBER :Kautschuk
      48 STR_0024_SUGAR :Zucker
      49 STR_0025_TOYS :Spielwaren
...
then, you accidentally added the gender to some strings where we need them (next two):

here, "Passagiere" is a unit of cargo (like "Säcke", "Tonnen"), not the cargo itself

Code: Select all

     155 -STR_PASSENGERS :Passagiere
     156 +STR_PASSENGERS :{G=w}Passagiere
     157 STR_BAGS :Säcke
     158 STR_TONS :Tonnen
     159 STR_LITERS :Liter
here, "Wasser" refers to the water on the map, not water as a cargo:

Code: Select all

     202 -STR_3804_WATER :Wasser
     203 +STR_3804_WATER :{G=n}Wasser

here, I think the first letter should be a capital letter:

Code: Select all

     246 -STR_680A_INITIAL_INTEREST_RATE :{LTBLUE}Kreditzinsen: {ORANGE}{COMMA}%
     247 +STR_680A_INITIAL_INTEREST_RATE :{LTBLUE}anfänglicher Zinssatz auf Kredite: {ORANGE}{COMMA}%
finally, one thing I noticed that you didn't change, but should be changed in my opinion:

Code: Select all

      51 STR_002D_FIZZY_DRINKS :Limonaden
namely, to "Limonade"

Thanks for the extensive review. Changes implemented. Actually I found the 4th gender already - but too late to change for today. And I missed a few despite, so it was good to see those strings again and check back. And search functions only return what is asked for - so with a less than optimal search it's easy to miss some things - such reviews are greately appreciated.

Next will be to add plural forms to all {COMMA} strings - e.g. where singular and plural might make a difference - but isn't properly differentiated right now.

In the latest batch, there is a closing paranthesis left here:

Code: Select all

     155 -STR_3804_WATER :{G=n}Wasser
     156 +STR_3804_WATER :}Wasser

Fixed. Thank you. As many strings were renamed, I added gender tags to the cargos which I was still missing. I hope I got it all right, as not every singular or plural (according to string name) is exactly that in German language (like water is singular, no matter what. Die Wasser has a different meaning ;) )

I think you got them all right (I read through it and made a sentence with each of them in my head to check), but it seems you left out some cargos, mostly toyland, and a singular "Passagier":

Code: Select all

      48 STR_0026_CANDY :Bonbons

      51 +STR_0028_COTTON_CANDY :{G=w}Zuckerwatte
