Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
So, the BM branch from Biltmore took five votes, the street railway from Benton just one. Works started just after the conclusion of the ballot. Today, September 3rd... 1914
, the first train from Bay Minette has arrived in Benton Harbor!

Bay Minette 1914
After the success of the first ballot, I put to vote a second project of Bay Minette Railroad. Freight traffic along the Bay Division has increased causing several delays on the inner part of the division, the so called West Side Line, between Bay Minette and Benton Junction. The BM has studied two different solutions.
Solution 1 involves doubling the track of the West Side Line between Rochelle Junction and Benton Junction. It seems the best choice as both passenger and freight trains could advantage of a two-track railroad eliminating stops at passing sidings, but it will be difficult to find a place for the second track in Rochelle area as the railroad lays directly on the shores of the bay.
Solution 2 leaves the unmodified West Side Line to passenger traffic as all freight trains will be diverted on a new route, called East Side Line, between Biltmore and Bay Minette 16th Street Yard. This option is cheaper, but instead to have one two-track line we'll have two single track lines (i.e. trains still will wait at passing sidings for meetings, athough less frequenlty).
Here is a screenshot that can help you to survey the area: Now it's your time to vote: solution 1 (double tracking the West Shore Line) or 2 (building the East Side Line)

Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
I vote two because the pax train can still use the west side main while the freight can use the east side track to avoid the reversing to get in the yard.
Something goes here, hell if I know.

Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
Couldn't be a third solution of build the East side line and signal it as an one way track to Bay Minette, and then changing the signals on the West line to one way from Bay Minette? This may need a new tunnel from the 16 Th Street yard to Rochelle, but it still leave a lot more space than the 1st solution.

Not very realistic though.colossal404 wrote:Couldn't be a third solution of build the East side line and signal it as an one way track to Bay Minette, and then changing the signals on the West line to one way from Bay Minette? Re: [OTTD] Ivan Furlanis' screenshots
I like the way you build your network and Bay Minette is one of the nicest scenarios I´ve played so far. Connecting Bay Minette is tricky, but I think none of the given choices offers a solution which will last for long. What about a new double line in the middle while moving the depot elsewhere. Bay Minette is a rather big town, there will be a lot of traffic soon, better reserve some place for future enlargement of the station now. (or move the station to the south and connect it with downtown Bay Minnette with a Metro (2cc) or interurbans)

Let's start with the map!
Central & Northern Railroad
In this year the Central & Northern Railroad has opened its first standard gauge line, called Berkly Division, between Powder and Berkly, first step of an ambitious link to Bay Minette. As the definitive route isn't decided, yet, for the moment the C&N operates a ship service along the Berlin Canal between Bald Eagle (terminal of the ononymous branch from Berkly) and Bay Minette.

First the map!
In these last two years two new railroad companies has been consolidated.
Patterson & Northeastern Railroad (P&NE)
This narrow gauge railroad has been founded mainly to bring gravel from the quarries around Berkly down to Patterson. At present the line has been completed just up to Griffith, future expansions are in the planning stage.

Atlantic Electric
The second new company is called Atlantic Electric (AE); as the name suggests, it's an interurban railroad, born with the purpose to provide fast passenger services to every small town in the Midland. At present the AE has completed a line between Proctor and New Proctor via Peoria with a short branch to Port Ogden. The introduction of freight service is planned for the future.

The story of one person's quest to take the land and its people by any means, laying iron and tarmac and one day pushing tin. Good luck great story, keep it coming.

Bay Minette 1921
After months of pause I resume this game. Since last installment there is almost only one news, but a great one. The Bay Minette Railroad (BM) has just completed the Gread Division between Theodore, where it branches from the Midland Division, to Powder, where it ends at the newly built Avon Street station. The line allows the first non-stop link between Bay Minette and Powder, the two major cities in the region. Until now it was possible to travel between these two towns only via a very looong route operated by the competitor Central & Northern Railroad (C&N) (*). The Central Division includes the following stations:
Theodore, junction with the Midland Division
Clovis Junction, at-grade crossing with the Atlantic Electric (AE)
Cedar Rapids, passenger and mail transfer station with the Patterson & Northeastern Railroad (P&NE)
Cornelius Ridge
Clear Bridge Junction, connection with the C&N
Powder Avon Street, terminal station
Next duty is to double the track of the three remaining single-track sections on the Bay Division; with the all-two track line between Bay Minette and Theodore, the BM could increase the number of trains on the new Great Division, both passenger and freight.
(*) From Bay Minette to Duluth Center by ship, from Duluth Center to Powder Central station by train changing at Berkly.
