Sorry? Do you mean getting rid of fix default rail sprites in
NewStations, or are you refering to railtype support in general? The former is / will be included in NewStations v0.5 for passenger stations. It´s still a bit debatable how to handle this for freight stations, though.

No.
MariCo addresses the marine environment. Those power plants will be in an extra newGRF.

The station tile with that portal crane? Well, it´s from NewStations "freight stations", and due to aforementioned problems none of them got railtype support until now.
The underlying problem is mostly with "fake rails" needed for switch yards, turnouts, etc, which cannot be composed in a way matching unknown railtypes.

Thanks for your interest, Paul.
The idea here (besides all that specific maritime stuff) is to closely integrate MariCo and NewStations to get better possibilities for constructing more "realistic" harbours.

little idea, maybe include some tiles that you place on the slopes with stairs coming down to your dockside. Now the sailors have to climb over the grass to get to the mainland.

Right, some object tiles will display a road or track section when being placed beside a real road or track tile.

Yeah, the idea was to have a small animated "harbour train" on some of these tiles.

Why is NewStations not available from the in-game OTTD content manager? Or is it under a different name?

No, I believe they are build INTO the earthworks on the coast; if you look closely you can see the front part of the wall is taller than the back part.
