Subject: Change design to Golf Roads

Made some changes that WILL interfere with a game that already has a golf course in it. But I hoping what I done is easy for you to fix and add some more items to your golf courses.

Changes:
* I was asked to change shading to the slopes as forgot to do that when I first make them many years ago.
* I also change the buggy roads instead of the being on the left or right side of the tiles I put them in the middle.
* Added buggy roads with Golf Buggies.
* Added Fairways with golfers and buggies on them.
New Gold Roads.png

If like to try here the game file and also the source. If you want something else added to the golf course let me know.
Can we have the Grf file to try please .

That would probably be happening if the ids of the objects were different

The problem is the churches and graves completely disappeared from the object list :( Is there a possibility of restoring them?

Sure can .. I had loaded the nml by mistake  .

I haven't changed any IDs .. looking back through previous versions of AuzObjectsPre1900 .. Version 6 did have some churches graveyards in it but some reason I had not placed them in later versions. Mainly because they are also in AuzTownObjects. (to help "moof" and any others who having this problem I shall re-install them to "AuzObjectsPre1900V13" which I shall do today.

Have you these game files :?:
"AuzTownObjectsV24" (it has Churches and Grave Yards in it).
"AuzTownObjectsAddOnsV26"
"AuzObjectsPre1900V12"

IIRC you previously declared AuzObjectsPre1900 obsolete because you moved everything into the Town Objects sets because you combined some stuff to make more space.

As for the golf paths, great improvement. Although I did appreciate the quirkiness of paths dog-legging to the left or right. There's also an issue with the turf and roughs that I noticed, especiallly on slopes. They need a bit of adjustment on shading and should probably be remade into being slope-aware objects.

I shall put some dog legs in to join the new paths I did? and have look at the "turf and roughs" but not till tomorrow as got some house work to catch up on.

Cheers

EDIT:
How these dog legs look. I added a pond, seat under tree and seats under shelter. The dog legs also have a T-Junction.

Very nice! :)

Another issue with the tiles, in winter these gridlines pop up. On some of them during non-winter you can also see a faint black line when zoomed out.

I don't really know much about making snow graphics .. all I do is use some snow sprites I have.
I get most of me snow graphics from these.

Have you got Gridlines turned ON in OpenGFX+Landscape?
I believe most of Garry's graphics are without those and that may cause that effect of a thinner gridline.

Also, what may help to figure out what is causing this, can you point out one object that has the issue?
Then Garry can maybe easier see what the graphics and code looks like.

I just had a quick play in the snow .. I not getting those grid lines at all and I am using OpenGRF+Landscape v7140.

In the parameters I have "Show gridlines: Off"

One think I have discovered I don't need to put snow on my tiles and paths. All I have to do is remove them and leave tile blank. But problem with that is not able to see any guide where we put them

I don't play golf and I don't have snow where I live .. so curiosity how do goofers see their white ball in the white snow?

Cheers

EDIT:
Just found what you meant kamnet :D Shall see if I can fix.

OGFX Landscape, gridlines off. The tiles in question are the grass and turf object overlays.

I fixed them and also the Driving Range Signs had same problem.

I also made a set of slope aware roughs that way the shading should be better. Also added another flat rough with different roughs.

Now I fixing some snow on some other sporting events.

I'll upload what I done before I go to bed tonight.

Cheers

Subject: Sailing Ships

Looking at some old photos on internet of Newcastle Australia during the sailing ship days and it gave me a idea I just had to make.
I used sailing ships from J Mitchell's set called "Sailing Ship". His ships actually sail and carry cargo.
Mine are object ships that can be tied up at wharves or anchored of shore.

I originally did single ships but got idea to day to add some in groups of 2 like in this image.

Have a questions or 2 about snow.
I making some of the sport and other objects snow aware .. but wonder?

Soccer and football and some other sports are winter sports here in Australia but we not get snow where they are played.
But in countries where it does snow what happens fields have snow on it? Do they play in the snow?

No one complained about the transition snow on the golf path ways, so I plan to do same with the pedestrian and bicycle paths in the Town Object sets.

Also getting a idea with the gardens .. the same flowers don't normally flower all year round .. so for winter like to change the flowers to different colours.

Cheers all

For football (what you are calling "soccer"): Yes, they do. The playing field markings are drawn by removing the snow and the teams play with an orange coloured ball. That's the way, it is done in amateur football and lower leagues. The teams in professional leagues (here in Europe) play in stadiums with turf heating systems, so there's no snow on the playing fields.

Thank you for your reply.

Maybe I should add grass to the fields and the snow part transition it so can see a bit of grass poking through where players been running. Maybe make a few sets to suit Temperate, Arctic, tropic and maybe a set with the mowed grass that Quast65 did for me many moons ago.

Cheers
