Wow, I was just imagining some of those structures the other day in my sleep. Freaky! I should start asking you some questions about what you're working on :-)

Thanks for your interest, Gentlemen. 8)

Acknowledgements should go to Lakie and Rubidium who implemented an improved version of newobjects for TTDPatch and OTTD. One that makes the building procedure for the player much more easier than before, and adds more possibilities for the set authors.

NewShips v0.48, providing freight graphics for ECS, FIRS and other cargoes, is in its test phase. Release being scheduled before end of the year.

A test version had been uploaded to the German tt-forums recently. If you´re interested in testing you might download it from there. Be aware that some of the bugs you might encounter had been fixed already, though. in any way, feel free to comment on everything which doesn´t feel right.

Why refeer is not refittable to fish?

EDIT: New ship depot is great!

"Fish" is an ambiguous cargo. It could be either the primary cargo from fishing grounds, and hence would be inappropriate to transport other than by a fishing boat, or it could be a subset of "food", and hence being transported by a reefer.

ATM, the "Harland" reefer transports all refrigerated cargo (food, fruit, fish, vegetables, milk), except "fish".

I´m open for proposals.

I think that it is raw cargo that can be transported like food - I would like to use the ship as factory ship for distant fishing.

In my opinion, reefers and fishing boats are two different classes of ships. In your example, the "factory ship" is indeed a fishing boat, not an industry transforming "fish" into "food", right?

Now, if "fish" is something like "food" (a refrigerated cargo) it could well be transported by reefers, but the "fish" being "harvested" at the fishing grounds is a different cargo than "food". It should require special means of transportation, namely "fishing boats" (which will be included in v0.5. Until then, you´ll have to use the A&P for "fishing").

I know, this sounds like nitpicking, but we already have those different classes of ships, and furthermore, "fish" is handled differently in a subtle way in ECS and FIRS.

What about bigger ships, with ability to carry more cargo (escpecially oil) - for example oil tanker with maximum load 5-10 times bigger than oil tanker now used in newships newgrf.

big ships are incredibly useless from gameplay perspective.

That's why I get so much use out of the very large ships in FISH then? ;)

It depends how large I suppose. Much bigger than a thousand tonnes and yes, it just takes too long to get a full load.

That's why the FISH ships max out around a thousand tonnes. I've tried bigger capacity ships, and they
- aren't very effective
- are *way* out of scale :)

Sorry, this is way off-topic.

Did you try ECS? How much ships do you need to keep fishing grounds on the ultimate production level? Imho, there would be a profit of having ships with capacity of several thousands tons.
