Hello,

I have a problem with the MLW M636 in Cartier lievry. It has a speed of 255km/h. Maybe that is a bug in OpenTTD. Did somebody else experience the same problem?

You are to remove all downloads and/or links of v0.3 releases of the CanSet from here and any other websites; back to v0.2 folks ... v0.3 has been withdrawn from the market and it won't be back ...

Updates including bug fixes for v0.3 are now suspended until we can provide a workable solution that can cater for multiple GRF engine sets in OpenTTD; it'll be v0.4 ...

It's a bug in CanSet; it won't be fixed, but addressed in v0.4 ...

Phew! Guess I was the last to download the GRF set. Haha! Lucky me though. Keep up the great work, guess it won't be long before we see version 0.4, maybe a tie-in with OTTD 0.7.0

Personally, I'd still like to keep version 3 up in case anyone wants it, but I can add a note re: pending Version 0.4

Yes, they did. That other .grf wouldn't work, because company liveries are required.

The next release of the CanSet (out soon for beta testers) will have the invisible Road Switcher added (graphics by me). It'll come in standard and narrow gauge, as well as, CNR, CPR and ONR flavours; thus wagons can have their liveries just as if they were attached to a 'real' engine. The engine is visible in the depot, so players know what they will get on the road.

Why not have it visible while moving, then disappear when in 'stopped' state (var B2, bit 1)?

In OpenTTD nightly higher than 14000 it is not more possible to play with the canset. Is it planned to make an update, and if the answer is yes, when will it be available?

(sorry for my english)

Canset had some problems to work under OpenTTD! Because of that its temporarily unavailable! You can read about the problem above this topic. And yes in some time there will be new release. It will come out when its done!

It might be nice to say "please" when making such requests, perhaps? Thankyou!

While you are working on the new 0.4 version, I would like point some minor issues I came across playing with
version 0.3d.
Since I never managed to download 0.3e, this issues may be fixed allready. I play OTTD r 14508 with all vectors of ECS beta 5, but it was the same with older versions, so I guess these are problems of the CanSet.

Tourist are handled as freight, therefore a caboose is needed to reach top speed. This makes highspeed trains useless, since you can´t attach cabooses to the Turbotrain, I think this was not intended.

I also found that ore transport is more efficient on NG, shouldn´t it be the other way around or was this the basic

idea?

Finally I would like to ask for two minor ajustments: please make boxcars refitable to dyes, they carry allmost everything, even limestone, why not dyes, and pretty please make the stockcar faster or provide a (fictional) modern replacement. Even if there is no such traffic in reality at the present date, in the game it´s the only way for the transport of large numbers of livestock. Just a little bit faster, please.

Looking forward to a newer, even better version of this fantastic set.

I Adgree. The Express Boxcar slows the train down. Couldn't there Be a callback for if passenger car is carrying Tourists Override the limmit? The ore car carries more because the narrow gauge caries it down and load on to the Stanard Gauge which Transport to the steel Mill.

Remember that there were limits to how long livestock could be on a train back in 'the day', 60 MPH seems a tad slow for the stockcars. I am thinking 70, maybe 75 MPH would be better. Anything over pushes the limit of how fast they were being carried. Stock cars were typically in service a long time, and therefore often has older underframe components that limited their speed much beyond 70 or so.

Hoping to see the set available soon sometime! This set is very cool!

Same issue, btw, with the NARS.

Coxx wrote: ... Tourists defined as freight cargo ...
I'm sorry about the cattle class offered ... this was a bug, but has already been fixed (in the next release). Tourists (express passengers) are treated the same as passengers; just the express part was considered freight and that was a bug in CanSet.
... SG vs NG cargo capacities ...
Cargo capacities have been reviewed. In general NG freight cars carry less cargo compared to their SG equivalent. Also, 'early' cars carry less than 'modern' ones. Further, when upgrading a train from early to modern cars, the new train will carry at least as much tonnage as the old one; i.e. if train length is measured in tiles, as the new train may have fewer cars due to their increased length, but it should carry more cargo. If that makes sense.

The capacities for iron ore have been set as follows :

SG early : 30 t
SG modern : 45 t
NG : 25 t
NG 'container bins' : 35 t
... dyes in box cars ...
Dyes in barrels could be transported in box cars. But, as it has been defined as liquid it was allocated to the tanker cars together with plastics. I can add dyes to the box car, but is there a reason why tanker cars are not an acceptable option ?
... faster livestock car ...
It has been mentioned before, but a speed of 96 kmh or 60 mph is already reasonable. I can consider either up the speed a bit (say to 104 / 65) or adding a 'modern' livestock car. Compared to other freight cars that travel between 88 / 55 and 128 / 80. Although, I'm aware, that having grain trains on the same line too can be a bit of a concern, considering grain trains can travel up to 112 / 70.
comm Cody wrote: ... The Express Boxcar slows the train down. ...
I'm not sure what you mean ... the Express (boxcar) Car is not speed limited; if there are no other freight cars, the train travels at the speed of the engine, unless there is a bug somewhere.

The following additions/modifications have been implemented to-date :

Code: Select all

. added MLW S2 early diesel engine in CN, CP and ON livery (by DanMack)
. added ONR livery for SD75i heavy freight engine (by me).
. added ONR livery for 2-8-0 Consolidation (by me).
. added BBD VIA 'JetTrain' in VIA 'Renaissance' livery (by me).
. all vehicles will now be available in temperate and arctic climates.
. added road switcher [invisible] for standard and narrow gauge (by me).
. reviewed/adjusted load amounts.
. reviewed/adjusted cargo capacities.
. CanSet will disable itself, if other train vehicle sets have been activated.
. and a lot of reconstruction work.
. fixed MLW 636 speed bug.
. fixed Tourists being freight.
Still to come :

Code: Select all

. add CNR CLC V-1-a Class '9000'; Canada's first mainline diesel engine.
. add VIA 'Renaissance' livery to GMD F40PH-2 engine from 2009 (VIA is currently refurbishing and repainting these)
. add GRP P50H (fuel-cell) in VIA livery (by DanMack).
. purchase and running cost review.
. eventually there will be enough suitable engines until 2050 and beyond available for express
passenger trains and heavy freight haulage.
. add French translation.

Nice work on the ONR SD75's. At first the yellow seemed a bit bright, but comparing it to photographs, looks pretty much dead on. Jet Train looks good too. I've been off my PC for about a month and a half due to a virus, but I'm back. look for the requested sprites (9000, P50 in GO and Renaissance F40) shortly

If express car is refitted to carry goods or food the train speed is limited if you don't add a caboose to the train. And caboose doesn't look good in passenger train... This bug happens at least with 0.3d, I don't have old enough version of ottd to test 0.3e

Another bug that may or may not have been already fixed for 0.4 is that road railer and the special end dome passenger car are a bit misaligned in some views, see screenshot. The dome car bug happens also with both CP liveries in addition to the VIA version.

Also, it would nice to have dome cars in F40PH pulled trains too, at least if the train is long enough. Dome cars are still used in the Canadian I think(and maybe in other trains too?).
