This set is looking great, but don't you think it's focusing too much on North American trains to be a
generic train renewal set? We have a NARS for that

Anyway, here's some locomotives I drew that are in my Generic European Set (see my sig) and you can use them in this set if you want, to give it some more European locos. There are some good steam locos, which this set seems to be rather lacking. Feel free to use these sprites, as long as I'm credited, of course

The trains Im doing are made up but take inspiration from some N.American Locomotives

I know that, I actually meant North American
style trains.

I agree... Since the original TTD was more British, there should actually be more like a bias towards Europe.

I can code it for you, given there's not too much to do, (: I'd like to help out and generate more enthusiasm, is there somewhere I can download all of the sprites and stats from?

not at the moment, its more of a search and download right now.though most sprites drawn to date are on this thread. if you want, you could also try decoding the grf with grfcodec (C:\grfcodec\grfcodec.exe -d gtrs.grf)

An interesting idea, for sure.

May I suggest more MUs and high-speed trains if you want to be more world-wide generic?

Also, may I suggest dropping the horrible and meaningless word "renewal"?

Hmm, well first of all i need to get back into a spriting mood, I'll produce crap if i try to sprite when im not in the mood.
I don't mind MU's, but being a Canadian Rail fan I like single unit locos
