it still looks nice, and waiting to be coded. perhaps XeryusTC can do something?

I probably can, it will be a hell of a job though that may get me occupied for at least a week. It would at least be a interesting experience

Red*Star and XeryusTC, if you guys can get together and pull this one off you will have my undying gratitude from now until eternity.

actually RedStar, what happened to those other brilliant stations you created? perhaps you van turn these into a "Modern Station Set"

They still lie safe and secure, three times redundant backupped

on my harddisk(s).
astath wrote:perhaps you van turn these into a "Modern Station Set"

Actually, it /was/ intended by me to do so

Gee

! That would be really great, Xeryus! But you mean it would take /just/ a week *eek* ? I thought it would take much more time... well, you probably meant this station only.
That means that /if/ you would also be willing to code the other ones... uuhm... let me think... 4*7+2*8=44 different tiles for this station, 6 for the Jena station, 8*5 for the futuristic one, 4*4+5 for the Hannover Messe Laatzen station and at least 56 tiles for the general forecourts... ca. 170 different tiles! And more likely that's underestimated.

I have a week vacation starting on friday, so I'll have plenty of spare time. And I was talking about the Berlin station only as 170 different tiles will take a long time to code, especially since layouts may differ and that would requiere loads of callbacks. For comparison, the Dutch station platforms I coded are some 120 tiles, for which I used around 20 callbacks, and most of them are used by multiple platform types. This set will require an unique callbacks set for each station.

Uuhm, if I get that big thing ready till Friday, and you code it - would it then be possible to obtain a copy of your (commented, of course) nfo file? I'm very interested in learning more of this coding stuff, especially the advanced things - a simple TTD-like station layout I also would be able to code (if you give me one week

), but complex ones with >8 sprites and callbacks etc. currently probably not. Until yet I've read a lot of theory in the wiki, but I could need some more examples for the more complex stations (like mine).

I can give you a NFO when it's done, but they are to commented that much. I get most of the information from the actual code itself, the only things I comment are some action 2 blocks so I know what select which tiles. And it is a good idea to decompile other GRFs and talk to the coders that made them, or just ask in #tycoon how stuff works (that's how I've learned to use callbacks).
But it will be fine if you get the sprites done by friday, but remember, I need special sprites for transparency.

You mean those yellow ones that can also be found for the original station halls?

Yes, I mean those.

*pheeew*... after 2 days of work I got the Berlin main station splitted down now. If XeryusTC encounters no coding problems with it, you may soon be able to see this very new part of Berlin in your game:

Really amazing

I hope XeryusTC get this coded soon and also your other station. It'll be really great to play with them

Uuhmm... not in the next week, I guess

. He has now enough to do with Berlin m.s.. (Btw, also not in two weeks, because I have no time for any further work.)
astath wrote:quality nice, sir!

Yup. 11.0 + some micro modifications = 11.1.

Thx.

Also thx
@all:
I also have to thank /you/. Without your comments and feedback my station
wouldn't look as good as like they look today.

I hope I just get all of Berlin's sprites defined and lined out, it's a big job with 188 sprites!!
And Red*Star, I already started working on it, and read your big story in the pcx file

. I have a question though, can tiles 211-511, 221-521, 271-571 and 281-581 use the same sprites?
And now, back to coding

.

Cool ^^
I would prefer it if the entrance sprites (those with the red DB sign and the cross glass pane) are the ones I assigned to 211-511 resp. 281-581 - and not the "standard" ones (221-521).
But if you can
only do it with the standard ones or it would be a huge amount of extra work when using the entrance tiles, then you may also use 221-521.

It'll work with the entrance sprites. But my concern was more about the re-usability of the roof itself, but it seems I can just re-use those sprites after some looking at the file.

@Red*Star: With 'soon' I only meant Berlin's Central Station, the other ones would be cool though, but as you said if you have other things to do they come first, of course

Hope you find the time for that somewhere down the road

I hope so, too

But doesn't matter whether you need 2 weeks or 4. The important is imho, that this project has a coder now
