This one took a couple of evenings playing around with GoRender, adding and removing setting options and trying to tweak them until I realised that if I wanted approximately 20% of the pixels in a surface with small lighting variations to receive some sort of dithering to make it look consistent from all angles then, well... calculating things is what computers are for, just make it happen automatically.

Results are not quite perfect (is anything in GoRender ever more than "It's HOT and it's READY"?) but the horrible colour banding is gone and some sprites are looking much better with the extra detail and shading. Even the Metrobus is looking a little more like a bus rather than a cardboard model of one.

Road Vehicles, Trains and Trains Community Addon with the changes should all be available on BaNaNaS - new versions are 3.3.0, 1.6.0 and 1.1.0 respectively.
