Because It would be not wise to become a moderator and change WhiteHand's thread.
Well, no. I´ve overestimated you. Instead of creating your own rivalling "artist´s competition" thread (which would have been silly, but legal), you just blatantly usurped WhiteHand´s thread by creating a poll for it in an unauthorized way - which is IMO against the forum rules.

You mean all the other should shut up?
Of course not. You had more than a fair chance to raise your voice, and you did. Obviously, you did not succeed with your opinion. The bad thing is that you neither accept the opinion of the thread´s owner nor other opinions about this case, but decided to act more and more against the forum´s spirit and its rules.

Accept it. It wasn't you who came with the idea after all

WhiteHand wrote:This is my thread, to do with as I wish. I apologise for giving you the thought that the competition would run over time - this is not the case. Due to being very busy over the last few weeks, I've been unable to donate much time to the forums, and only had a short amount of time to skim over.
WhiteHand, you are correct, it is your thread.
Many, if not most, in this community are students who must devote personal real life time to studies, especially in those critical weeks just before exams.
With these points in mind I have a suggestion that keeps things really simple.
Code: Select all
1. Keep all aspects of the contest within the current calendar month.
2. Open the current contest on the first day of the current month.
3. Allow 2 weeks for entries, with the last chance to enter on the 14th day of the current month.
4. Only the first 8 (or a quantity that the forum can accommodate) entries should qualify for the current month.
5. Surplus entries and late entries should be disregarded.
6. Disregarded entries should not be automatically carried to the next month. It should be up to the artists to resubmit them.
7. Engage one forum moderator who would be willing to change the poll routinely on the 15th day of the current month.
8. The poll should be locked on the last day of the current month and the awards announced.
9. Due to the global nature of these forums, dates and times should be UTC or whatever Owen uses for these forums.
Did I miss anything?
If these rules are adopted soon, the May contest could be rescued rather than abandoned.
If these rules are adopted the contest should be fairly automatic and require minimum input from WhiteHand and the poll moderator, so unavoidable absences would not be an issue.

1) there is no May 2007 award in this thread, so, I did not usurped WhiteHand´s right to run May 2007 award. I used it because he did not use this possibility. If he would start may 2007 award - I'll close my award.
2) Unless you'll find the text of the rule - you can't prove that it IS against the rule, that makes your statement a wicked calumny.

I can see only your and Whitehand's opinions. That is not enought to convict me.
michael blunck wrote:but decided to act more and more against the forum´s spirit and its rules.
Against you and Whitehand? You call yourself the "forum´s spirit and its rules" and "the community"?

And whose people call me "childish"

Could we please stop arguing over this, any further argument posts will be removed.
Whitehand has quite clearly stated he wants only a June one, and not a May one.
George has started a new thread for the May ones, so I don't see any point in any more arguing in either thread.

This thread died in 2005 unless I digged it up in march 2007. Why should I accept it? I could make a new thread in mar 2007. But I decided to keep the old thread, supposing that things should continue being support by forum members, in this particular case - by me. Then why shouldn't the other behaviour the same way? Why they can't support it instead of destroying it?

Ok.
June award goes here, may award goes in separate thread.

That´s correct. Deadline is may 31st, according to the rules yet not changed. All contributions posted since may 1st are qualified for the june contest.
may award goes in separate thread.
According to the rules agreed upon in this thread and the explicit decision of the thread´s owner (WhiteHand), there will be no "may award", due to no contributions made in time.
That thread you´re refering to is illegal according to the forum rules and should be removed by a moderator.

All contributions posted for June award are considerated for June award. All contributions posted for May award are considerated for May award. Currently 7 contributions are posted for May award and 0 for June. If some artist would like, he can clarify, what month did he contributed for. Unless other stated, these 7 contributions are for may 2007 award.

It would be because I've already started it

Sorry, it is not. The rule, you've pointed, does not allow to kill my thread

find a rule, that says "should be removed" first

That´s wrong. There were
no contributions for may because those should have been posted prior to may 1st. In consequence, all contributions posted so far are for the june contest.

l. The moderators and administrators reserve the right to edit, remove or lock any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. as noted in these points is up to the Moderators and Administrators and not users. I´ll wait for WhiteHand before taking further actions.

Thankyou.

Right, as far as I can see, this is the "official" topic. (No topics on the forum are really official, unless one of the moderators or myself make them so.) So, as a resolution, I propose that whoever created it or is currently responsible for it should run the competition, or nominate someone else to do it. Seems fairly straightforward to me.
I notice that the person running it was WhiteHand (well, he has the first post at least). Someone may want to get in touch with him to figure something out. If not, then we'll have to think of something else. Just please, don't let this turn into another fight.

I will thus use this post to ask - would people like me to take control of the TTD Artist competition?

I've got no objection to it, especially since Whitehand/Lachlan has left the forums.

Thanks Michael.
While I would be tempted to go with it just on Michael's word (legendary word counts double

), I've obviously gotta wait for other objections/agreements... ?
