Since everyone's a volunteer, naturally the coders will work on whatever projects they feel like working on; we can't just "assign" them to somewhere. So arguing over which set is important is irrelevant. Personally I do want to see the BR set done because it has been in progress for so very long, and will have so many cool trains in it. But, as far as I recollect, the Japan set was the very first one started, a long time ago. It just didn't get anywhere for a long, long time.

Merri, yes, it would be good for you to drink some coffee and finish up the GRF Creator!

i don't think it's that necessary (send the SpecOps after me if i discourage him anyway  ), because there's no real problem in coding if you're organized (that is, having all actions 00 in excel, and some other tricks), and with a magical tool called NFO creator (greetings for the maker), correcting graphical glitches is as easy as possible (hint, use the windows magnifing glass of userfeatures to zoom the tiny sprite).
The only problem i find are callbacks, randoms, and that sort of complicated stuff, and if that's done, wow, it'll be a thousand times less tedious to code everything, and much more easy

Well, duh, that's the whole point of the GRF Creator, to take care of the hard stuff, and as you say, it'd be a thousand times easier with it.

heh, silly me, of course. But imagine the work to code a program to be able to cope with all types of callbacks, that's not straightforward...
I dunno, i've just programmed one year in TurboPascal :|

I suspect that the GRF Creator would be coded in Visual Basic, and composing the GRF file would just be a lot of math calculations, which are relatively straightforward to program and computers are good at that. Not to minimize the work involved, just because of the complexity. But if it's documented well enough for human beings to be able to make working GRF files, which appears to be the case, then I would imagine that the information is there to write an automatic program to do it.

krtaylor: Yes a grf creator can cope with writing the pseudo-sprites, but that is the easy bit. The difficult bit is deciding the order of the sprites, and making sure that two sprites which are often on opposite sides of the graphics, are aligned, so that they refer to the same callbacks. (otherwise you get grf files which crash the game unless all of Gearges long vehicles are installed, as happened with the class 313 I did on sunday - I still have no idea why it worked when the long vehicles were installed)

This one is much easier than the one I drew :?

 Thank you Purno. Btw, can i use the http://ttforums.owenrudge.net//files/ca ... riages.png pipe carriage and http://ttforums.owenrudge.net//files/wo ... hopper.png wood carrier in the set?And The New Fences You Drew to? :) , also your Shunter Type 82 is very similiar to DV16 class Diesel Engine(http://mercurio.iet.unipi.it/pix/fi/die ... 6/pix.html , http://mercurio.iet.unipi.it/pix/fi/die ... 4aug90.jpg ). Also i could use the containers, do ya got those containers in wagons to?(http://ttforums.owenrudge.net//files/containers.png)hmmm if Owen Finishes his GRF Creator enytime soon i could use it myself to make test grf, but atm theres no way i can create one, i dont have a spritenumber table for trains, nor the knowledge to create nfo files..

Akalamanaia, sorry, I didn't see your message. [EDIT]It could be you posted at the same time I clicked "mark all posts as read". I didn't see this topic as being marked as one with new messages. :? [/EDIT]

Yes, of course.
Akalamanaia wrote:And The New Fences You Drew to? :)
Why? These don't have to be used IN a set, because they can be used as an individual set.
Akalamanaia wrote:Also i could use the containers, do ya got those containers in wagons to?(http://ttforums.owenrudge.net//files/containers.png)
I thought I had them in wagons, but if not, it's not difficult to make

Users of this set, should choose wether they want to use my fence or not. So my fence should be optional. [EDIT]And not included in the actual GRF file [/EDIT]

I didn't say it would be included, but BUNDLED with the zip file(so theres for example finnishtrainset.grf and your fence grf as optional and the readme)
