Thanks for releasing an update so quickly.

Unfortunately the tubular bridges are broken.

This issue occurs for all track types except for narrow gauge. Other bridge types seem ok.

Using: OpenTTD 1.3.1 with CanRail v1.6a and no other GRFs.

So they were. It was an unfortunate typo, now fixed. Well, at least I hope so.

Another update for Canadian Trains + Railways (CanRail) v1.6b has been released.

Canadian Trains + Railways (CanRail) :

v1.6b - Update [20 June 2013]
  • fixed [again] compatibility issue of rail bridges with OpenGfx Base Graphics.

That has fixed the tubular bridges but there's now a similar issue with the cantilever bridges.

Edit:
I've now started a game with CanRail and FIRS using the arctic basic economy. Although the purchase list shows the boxcar can carry to paper, it isn't possible, as paper doesn't appear in the refit window.

Using: OpenTTD 1.3.1 with FIRS 1.2.0, CanRail v1.6b and others (let me know if you need the full list).

If it's of use, FIRS docs are here: http://bundles.openttdcoop.org/firs/rel ... rence.html

These are generated directly from source code, so are canonical.

Some older releases and current nighly builds also have docs and can be browsed here: http://bundles.openttdcoop.org/firs/

 Forget the paper, I keep forgetting with the basic arctic economy, the FIRS paper mill doesn't produce paper, it produces goods. :?

Found it and fixed it. As you are very good at finding the impossible; I'll send you an update for testing before I upload (CanRail and CanRoads (v1.6c)).

FIRS players should not see the 'Cargo (to refit)' information as it is too complex to keep accurate (it's for TTDPatch players). You need to rely on the 'Refittable to' information supplied by the game.

So, it seems another bug has surfaced. In the NewGRF settings window (in-game), in the 'Detailed NewGRF information' panel, what does it exactly say next to parameters ?

EDIT: Found why 'Cargo (to refit)' information in arctic with FIRS is shown; it'll take some time to fix ...

A third update in as many days for Canadian Trains + Railways (CanRail) v1.6c and Canadian (International) Roads (CanRoads) v1.6c have been released.

They are available from your local green grocer, the bee-store.

Canadian Trains + Railways (CanRail) :

v1.6c - Update [21 June 2013]
  • fixed [another] compatibility issue of rail bridges with OpenGfx Base Graphics.
  • fixed set internal industries in relation to naming nearby stations.
  • fixed 'Cargo (to refit)' information in arctic for FIRS.
Canadian (International) Roads (CanRoads) :

v1.6c - Update [21 June 2013]
  • fixed [again] compatibility issue of road bridges with OpenGfx Base Graphics.
Many thanks to mart3p, who has found all these issues.
... the use of set internal bridges with OpenGfx Base Graphics ...
The issues that have surfaced over the last few days have now been minimized, but they cannot be eliminated without a proper bridges graphics file [GRF].

Please be advised :

OPENTTD BASE GRAPHICS (OPENGFX) : THIS GRAPHICS FILE [GRF] HAS BEEN DEVELOPED
TO BE COMPATIBLE WITH TTD 'ORIGINAL' BASE GRAPHICS ONLY, USING THIS SET WITH
OTHER THAN TTD 'ORIGINAL' BASE GRAPHICS MAY GIVE MIXED RESULTS AND MAY MAKE
THIS SET UNSUITABLE FOR OPENTTD PLAYERS.

There should be no problems, when using TTD 'original' base graphics with either or both of CanRail and CanRoads.

There are no longer any problems, when using OpenGfx base graphics with BOTH CanRail and CanRoads.

However, with OpenGfx base graphics and just using CanRail will give you faulty road bridges and just using CanRoads will give you faulty rail bridges.

I cannot fix that because all bridges as currently implemented in CanRoads and CanRail share the front part of any bridge element.

OpenGfx has choosen different styles (compared to the TTD 'original' ones) for some of the bridges; that is why we get these problems, but it is no longer as bad as it was.

Currently, we have brought forward the development and release of Canadian Bridges (was planned for v2.x series and not v1.x) ; that should then fix most of the issues when using OpenGfx base graphics.

In the meantime, I can only advise players to use TTD 'original' base graphics or use both CanRail and CanRoads at the same time.

I hope this helps understanding the issues.

OzTrans wrote:There is a reason why Canadian Graphic Files are not available for download from within OpenTTD nightlies, beta's and RC's, but they work nonetheless with those releases.
And why this is done? Is there something wrong that may happen in nightlies with this newgrf? I was searching for this thread to report problem that this set is missing in the BaNaNaS list from nightlies and now I am confused by reason for this (without manual update after release this set will be unavailable to players - what certainly will happen after every release and sooner or later it will happen permanently).

Is it possible to add information what newgrf caused it to disable itself?

Why Canadian Town Names newgrf caused trainset to declare itself conflicting with it and disable itself? It seems to be case of overzealous disabling or some extreme form of spaghetti code.

There is such information ... The message in the 'Detailed NewGRF Information' panel (or the little error message window) reads : "GRF disabled due to incompatible active graphic file(s) found. [EB]". Further the 'DoNotReadMe' explains the various messages further.

Which reads :

"EB : GRF disabled due to incompatible active graphic file(s) found.
Incompatible graphic file(s) have been found activated; i.e. graphic files that have a GRFID starting with "CA" [43 41 xx xx]. Such GRFs are either outdated or have an unauthorized GRFID starting with "CA" [43 41 xx xx], they are incompatible and must be deactivated/removed from the list of activated graphic files before this GRF can be activated.
"
Why Canadian Town Names newgrf caused trainset to declare itself conflicting with it and disable itself? ...
If you use any Canadian graphics file of a version 1.6 or higher, then all other Canadian graphic files in use must be of a version 1.6 or higher too. In your example, you may have used CanRail v1.6 and CANames v1.1. That causes CanRail v1.6 to disable itself, because CANames v1.1 is outdated. To solve the problem, you need to update CANames v1.1 to v1.6.

88, but you must add a van to get the full speed.

There are three ways to find the files:
1 The OTTD in-game online content link
2. GRFCrawler which points to:
3.The NewGRF page on BaNaNaS
:D

Yes ... The website is not quite ready for prime time but the file contains a readme.txt. OzTrans may be able to help you with the PDF or if you have a specific question, I may be able to help.

I suggest using your 2008 copy as a place holder in your folder and then watch this topic for OzTrans to announce the availability of a new PDF. 8)

Just to inform you v1.6 does not work because it is gz file not a TAR or GRF file
