It works, it's alive!

f*** me that was hard. :|

Thanks for all your suggestions and patience!

Yexo, you helped a great deal. I'd actually done what you suggested this morning, though gave up not realizing something else, except for some details like the shortened action threes. With your suggestions I realized finally where I needed to be headed. If not for this I'd have still been here next year.

However that in itself wasn't enough, through trail and error and looking to those action threes and the IDs on the Varaction 2's.

Code: Select all

   39 * 7 03 0F 01 00 00 <----Use id's for regular action 2 04 00 <------ Use id's for varaction 2
   40 * 7 03 0F 01 01 00 05 00
   41 * 7 03 0F 01 02 00 06 00
   42 * 7 03 0F 01 03 00 07 00

If not you'll only get to be able to use 1 set of signs.

I think you are misunderstanding your Action3 structure.

Code: Select all

    0 * 0 03 0F
               01 00 // 1 id to set, starting from 00
00 // Number of cargo id specific action2 chains
// (For objects, there is only cargo id 'FF' for menu specific chains).
00 00 // default action2 chain to use (in-game, also menu if specific not given)

// If I was to give a menu specific chain, I'd use this version
    0 * 0 03 0F
               01 00 // 1 id to set, starting from 00
01 // Number of cargo id specific action2 chains
                   FF 01 00 // Menu specific action2 chain
                   00 00 // default action2 chain to use (in-game only)
Hope that helps,

This is probably not the place for it but...

The signs are very neat :)

However TTD doesn't have Y jusctions and roundabouts are, shall we say, uncommon. Perhaps you'd like to draw some T junction signs?

TTD doesn't have real motorways either. But we can pretend, or learn C or bug the devs.

You have a point though. I could do with signs for T junctions or other more common TTD layouts. Now I know a bit more about what I'm doing I'll get around to it.

I was going to release the GRF this weekend but now I kind of feel like that brainbox Dr Johnston who left the word sausage out of his dictionary.... Or contafibularities.

Aww shame, cause my map has loads of motorways with roundabouts and i'd of loved to put those signs on right away. You wouldn't maybe reconsider releasing a version 1? and updating with other signs later? ;)

If you wanted to fake motorways a new objects hard shoulder wouldn't be too hard to draw (?). You have to draw an overlap in to the road to cover the grass verge - no I'm not volunteering. I suspect new objects Armco wouldn't be that tricky either

Just do a circle of one way roads... voilà a roundabout.

Give TTD's rather lacklustre handling of road movement I I don't think it improves traffic low any though
