Lilman's foray into graphics making.

Discuss, get help with, or post new graphics for TTDPatch and OpenTTD, using the NewGRF system, here. Graphics for plain TTD also acceptable here.

@ DJ - look up, he's included a grf  I've have school buses running around my town!
michael blunck wrote:BTW, what purpose does that extraneous transparent blue serve? Technically speaking, it´s not needed for vehicles and its only effect is inflating your files. You might get rid of it manually or by the help of grfcodec (-c to automatically crop transparent blue pixels, offsets will be adjusted automatically
(Going OT here). My vehicles are drawn on a standard grid of blue, some are larger than others, so sometimes the blue is oversized; you're right I could crop down the blue, it's just a time and knowledge issue. Maybe I'll look into your grfcodec tip.

cheers,

same OT:
now that is probably something i need to do in the 2cc set as well... i think i'm haveing a lot of "extra blue"...

edit
grfcodec.exe -c -e -p 2 2ccdj.nfo.new.nfo
vs
grfcodec.exe -e -p 2 2ccdj.nfo.new.nfo

didnt actually make it smaller, and i know i have a lot of extra blue hanging around there

Usually standard sizes of blue boxes makes your xrel, yrel allignment standard too, which could ease up coding / allignment issues.

I wonder if it's actually worth removing the excess transparent blue. How many bytes does it matter? Does TTD got it's limitations, because when downloading it doesn't really matter if the file is 100kb bigger nowadays.

Perhaps you´re using an older version of grfcodec? IIRC, you´d have to have a version better than 0.9.10.

Try this one: http://www.tt-forums.net/download/file.php?id=60538

OK, here's an attempt at the first draft of a house. It's based off of my own house. I tried first to get just the shape of the house, ignoring any details like the chimney, porch, etc. The roof is....not easy. The triangle of the roof on the right side looks....ok, to me, but the left side is not so good to me.

Shape looks fine to me, athanasios' roof is just a bit higher/steeper.

I've finalized the shape (i think/hope) and added some rudimentary shading. Any comments, or shall I contentedly continue to the detailing step? :P

Don't forget buildings need a separate ground tile for transparency view.

I know, I figure it'd be easier to build as one piece then separate it than to build it as two pieces

Not sure, some ground will be covered by the building (back yard), and some trees in the front yard might cover the building...

Looks quite a lot like my own home, which I started pixeling a long time ago, but never got finished :-)
Your first picture looked like your roof was like mine, but now when I look at your later version, it seems the short ends of yours are vertical?

AndersI: Yes, in the first picture, i was working on the assumption that my house was like that, but I talk to my friends at Google Street View and they told me it wasn't. Tells you how much i know about my house.
