Somehow, I have a working patch for realistic acceleration of road vehicles (allowing them to go more than 127 km/h) for more than one and a half years (since revision 3600 or so). And it works perfectly. It hasn't been committed yet, but it once was included in the (now dead) MiniIN branch.

Hertogjan, make sure its up t date with the current trunk and resubmit it! At least ask the dev's what needs to be done to get it in!! Im sure they dont forget these things without a reason!

Even if you don't manage to it in the trunk, I (with your permission) will put a url address for it in the readme that goes with the grf set. obviously, it'd have your name next to it.

I'm still looking for artists, if anyone's interested.

Maybe you should make a list of "requirement", a list on how you think the vehicles should look. After all, it's you walking around with an idea.
Some things to think about:
- 1 or 2 company colors
- articulated or not
- level of "futuristicness"
- etc.
Maybe I'll give it a go some day soon myself. Don't know if I can create something in line with the defaults though.
There was some discussion on creating a full default vehicle replacement set, with more buses and trucks supporting the NewCargo schemes. Would be really cool if this small set could eventually evolve in such a thing.

Thanks for that suggestion - good idea. I want to give people a reasonably free hand with this, so I won't ask for a specific level of 'futureisticness', just keep in mind that the vehicles hover. As for articulation, I'm ruling that out. As cool as articulated vehicles are, they often have problems with non-drive-through road stops, and also, this being the first time I've coded a proper set, I want to keep thing simple for me. With company colours, I don't mind too much, but would prefer just 1 - it's more in keeping with the default vehicles.
The only other thing I can think of at the moment, is that the vehicles remain standard length (A tiny bit over or under dosn't matter.)

Hello
Have you looked at
thisthread? It's about an Idea from SirXavius to make a grf set that replaces the toyland climate with a futuristic grf. I'm currently working on the terrain section. I wondered if you would like to help, since you suggested the futuristic busses.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm afraid i've dug myself into a comfortable little niche here. It looks like a great idea - don't get me wrong - but I'd rather start off with my own simple, little, grf set, than help with a larger, more complex one. (I'd only mess it up.) Besides, I admit to being a toyland fan myself.
However, feel free to steal my idea. Although from what I've read, hover vehicles seem not to quite in theme with the set. I may be wrong on that - I confess that I skim-read it. As I said, It sound like an exelent idea, and one that I will definatly play, and I wish you and everyone else working on it the very best of luck.

Geoff: There is a toyland vehicles project that is currently dead. Since you are a fan of toyland, when you get better acquainted with grf coding, you might come in contact with that team and revive the project. It is pity it is dead, since quite a lot of work was already done.

Wow, thanks, Athanasios! I never new such a set had, at any time existed. I've always thought the main problem with Toyland was its lack of vehicles - i've long been thinking some sort of 'toyland refurbishment set' would be great.
however, I must make some attept to pull this thread back on topic - I seem to be spending more time talking about other peoples set, than the one i'm trying to make.

Ok, I've had a PM from 0004tom, saying he's willing to work on some sprites.
Unfortunatly, I don't know which, so I've but both vehicles down as being 'possibly claimed' by him, and I've sent him a PM back.
I've updated the tracking table on page 1.

Hi there.
I'm a big fan of any project that aims to make OTTD more futuristic, so I wish you the best successes in this project.
I wish there was some way I could contribute, but unfortunataly my C knowledge is only limited and I havent even started on C++ yet...
Oh well, if you need someobody to test something, I'm all available

I know I'm not a good pixel-artist, but I wanted to give it a try

One bus (I guess

Thanks for the sprites, Lord, but 0004tom is already making some.

feel free, to collect as many as you want as the ones i'm making right now, you might not like.
anyways so you know what you expect, these are what I'm working off at the minute.
no sprites for either yet, I'm currently finding it hard to find enough time, to make enough progress.
but i have started both vechiles.
Sorry for being greedy lol
PS. if people wanna throw sprites together please do.

Geoff Holemanson wrote: so long ass they are in keeping with the idea of a hover vehicle, and in keeping with TTD's generic theme.
after re-reading your description of what you wanted, i decided that using the images that i found from google, wouldn't keep to the generic theme of TTD.
so i can up with this little idea, using almost the same idea from the pictures i found.
i know that the size is a little bigger then a regaler bus, but as the title of the attachment says, it's not even a finished product yet.
your views are welcome.

wow. That's pretty nice looking, although I'm wondering how good the yellow will look.
Still, keep going - it's nice to see some more action in this thread.
As for the size, don't worry. As long as it's not too much bigger, to the point that it just looks silly, I don't mind. Just do whatever you're happy with.

thanks, as for the yellow, i chose it, as i like to think things in the future will be colorful lol
can change it tho, if you like ?
Geoff Holemanson wrote:As for the size, don't worry.
your right, i PNG the graphics in game, using the 32bbp engine, and i have to say they look nice with the futuristic buildings with TTRS.
anyway, not much done, since i posted last, only the up and down views.
thoughts and ideas, welcome as always
