Well thanks for judging a city on Heathrow and Gatwick. And thanks for referring to Birmingham as BHX.
You might want to venture outside of the airport's doors ...

I quite like Gatwick...
It's also the easiest for me to get to by Public transport despite being the furthest of the 5.
I don't think London is full of itself at all to be honest. Nor do I think it's too big (It is the Capital after all remember...). Nothing wrong with big stations. Most of them have a mighty impressive look to match

I like Gatwick Airport. Its nicer than Heathrow and for me is much easier to get to (direct train!

Too easy to dismiss anything as being Londoncentric but let's be honest we're just jealous.
I'd murder for Birmingham to be as culturally vibrant and as cosmopolitan as London is.

If someone thinks London is overcrowded then they should visit Japan

Only Tokyo though! Kyoto is fine. Osaka is pretty crowded, but not nearly as much as Tokyo. Even the JR Osaka Loop Line leaving Osaka Station was relatively tame during the evening rush hour - we even got seats - the transverse type too!

London does pretty well in having its tube stations and main railway stations in the same place, something another city I could mention doesn't. Well, at least the tube doesn't go to the Central station there, nor is the airport tube or rail connected.
Easy to have a cheap shot at London, though isn't it? I've never found Heathrow or Gatwick difficult to use, and while the tube can be annoying, it does the job of facilitating through journeys pretty well. And imagine what the place would be like without the tube.
