I still think the impossibility of the structure is a big issue. I mean, just because the original [very low resolution] image is an impossible structure doesn't mean the hires remake has to be. Use a bit of common sense and style; make the structure feasible at least.
Use the original as a base, as inspiration, not as a "must scale identically" inflexible template.
