Well, it seems that I'm going to have to learn a wad full of stuff first.

I'm actually printing off pages of the TTDPatch Wiki tutorial, so I can learn it. I'm only printing off the necessary bits though.

I have to learn Actions 0-7 and A-F I think...

No, you'll only need to learn action 8 and A for a simple grf file, but if you want to make something more advanced you'll need to use action 0, 1, 2 and 3 too.
