Here are some industries I'm positive of:
-there's an oil refinery in Cardiff right on the seafront
-there's a brewery in Cardiff not far from that either
-there's a steel mill in the east of cardiff
-there's a power plant due west of cardiff, by the sea (on your map it would be halfway between Cardiff and Swansea)
-there's another heavy industry just south of Swansea (technically Port Talbot)
-there are coal mines throughout Wales (or rather, were until the 80s)
-Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool should all have factories.
-Mid Wales should be farmland
-There's a power plant *south* of Oxford, but you can just put it north of it.
-you should put a farm east of Manchester, as there are several visible from the M62
That's about all I can think of.
Oh, and on your map there are a few towns you might want to add for the sake of passenger services: Merthyr Tydfil, Milford Haven, Newport, Dolgellau, Newtown.
Check out my Bristol Channel map, most of the stuff I mentioned is on there. That map's lookin' good, can't wait to see the finished version. Don't forget the trees, eh?

thank you for that metalangel, i shall add them to the scenario in a minute. but if there's a brewery, where shall i put the vine yard?

No problem, breweries use wheat so you don't have to add a vinyard.
One thing, the landscape you've got is slightly smaller than the map you posted earlier, it doesn't go any further than Birmingham so you've go the towns too far east. (ie, Worcester should be slightly to the east of where you've put Coventry)

well, i know that the towns are in the wrong places but i've just plotted where they are roughly, shall i change it then?
and i never knew brewerys take grain, because i thiought brewerys make wine so vineyards were needed, thanks for that little fact.

Ok, here is what i've done so far.
As you see i've put two versions of the map landscape and industries. Is it good or does it need more towns or more industries (like there's enough industries already).
If there is any small towns you would like me to add or anything just say and it'll be on. Some small towns i may not be able to put on, because it may be too close to another town. More towns in wales would be good, i just don't know which one's you'll all would like.
As you see I have two Newport's (Newport (PEMBROKE) and Newport (MONMOUTH)), that is because the two newports were in different counties.
Also around Bristol there is the bridge (can't remember the name if it), that is just to note that i've started to add the motoways, i may add the A roads (eg. A1, A2 and so on) only if you would like them on.
You may ask 'why add two types of maps?' It's just to make a clearest view of the scenario.
Hope you all like the looks of it.

I see the maps, but I don't see the download
bugga.
cheers.

Looking good... you might call Newport Monmouth 'Casnewydd' if you wanted to make life easier.
The bridges (there are two) are the
Severn crossings, depending on the year of your map there might be one, two or none!

well, right now i don't know what year i'll set it on, and i've changed the map slightly, i'm sorry i've not posted the download i'm still workin' on it. sorry for the long wait, but i just want it to be perfect. of how i've changed it i've moved the pennines slightly 'cause it was in the wrong place, but it looks better now. I'll post it in when i've finished the motoways.

thank you for your patients for this, 'cause even i'm gettin' impatient but i'm still goin' to do it. i'l probably finish it this week, i'm not sure.

Don't rush, take your time and get it perfect!
I know what you mean about impatience... the motorways was the last thing I did too, and I tell you what - it's BORING building them. When I did my Bristol Channel map I'd say the roads occupied more time than the rest of the stuff put together... but then, I did have my South Wales A-Z and AA road atlas out next to me for consultation.

tell me about it (actually dont), i've only done the M1 M62 and started on the M6. it's a right bugger when you've done the motoways the wrong way (did that M1) so right now im taking so much care to it.
and i am taking my time but i just want it done now, get it over and done with. but oh well.

i've got a question, what year shall i start it on or shall i start it at 1900 and you change the years yourselves?
also i've nearly finished the map, just need to add (i think) one more motoway and i might do some main roads to connect all towns in wales area.

GTankG: I usually make two versions of maps... one set in 1925 (so you don't labour with the crappy weak engines you start with) and another set in 1960 (with motorways in place)... but it's up to you. Make sure you don't have any addons enabled.

I think he (Vidar) is working on a proper scenario of the Netherlands, since the Randstaat one by Spyker is inoperable.

well, i think i'll post it in 1900 and all you's can edit it the years yourselves so its best for yourselves.
but thanks anyway.

Indeed, as Metalangel said, I'm working on two scenario's. One is for OpenTTD and one is for Locomotion. The one for OpenTTD is almost done, but it's all handwork, there are no utilities (as fas as I know) to create a scenario from a height map. The one for Locomotion is also still quite some work. Especially the water levels are causing some problems. Last, I'm occupied at the moment with my study, so progress is slow.
In reply to d00mh4mm3r, I'm not creating new empty maps, because there are no requests. If you ant a map, request it and I will try to see to it.
