Why dont you just make a *tram* out of the bus..
so make a bus... and edit them as if its a tram
then you automaticcaly have those overhead wire things

Maybe if someone could add a new type of invisible tram track, then you could send trolley buses around it

Hmm.. Trolleybusses, like them. want them.
But would more like some Sauser or Mercedes ones.
and the
Technical Data
About every major city around here has them.

I'm still all for the Flyer E901's, and of course the Brills to fill in the gap from the 1960s to 1986.
Perhaps instead of breaking down, a bus can come off the lines and sit there with the poles in all directions for a moment or two.
As for invisable tram track, that sounds awfully confusing, though I guess it would work...

Yeah, they'd have to work as proper road vehicles, but could only drive down roads that had been electrified (that way they can overtake other vehicles, the whole reason they were invented as a replacement for trams in the first place).
De-wiring would probably be the best disaster, but you'd also need to give them great uphill power. Still, given they'd have to follow the wires, it could spell the end of the lost busses.

Arnhem is the only Dutch city with trolleybusses.
EDIT: Sometimes I forget that there is a page 2 with more posts...
Wezz6400 was a bit faster with his response to DaaNtje (see top)

Cool

What kind of advantage do they have in game, compared to trams or normal busses?
Running cost?
High speed as normal busses, high capacity as trams?

Cheaper than Trams, about same capacity than trams.
In real life, they are more friendly to the envroinment than normal busses.

How do you figure them to be less expensive than trams? I imagine they use the same amount of electricity, maybe a little more. The only cost savings I see is in infrastructure. As someone stated before, if they can overtake, that's another advantage.
I wouldn't mind seeing hybrid or fuel cell buses in the game. Of course, that's just a matter of using scrat's new program and making a new set of bus pics. Trolly buses are a bit more complex to make, since it's a whole new arena. Would be interesting to see - hope someone can do it.

I'd imagine they use a lot of standard bus parts - tires, wheels, seats, doors, windows. They also only need the wires, not the (extremely expensive to lay) in-road tracks.

And they could overtake buses on the way, unlike trams wich just have to sit there with the bus for 1000 years until the bus decides to move out of the way.
