yay,i found out the problem with the pacific in ottd.

The problem is, that the tender is using an invalid cargo type (8 in arctic), which ottd doesnt like.
As it has no capacity anyway, you could say this should be ignored maybe, but i'm not 100% sure atm, cause cargo's are also sometimes used for liverfy refitting?

I'm not sure how to fix this yet, i may have better ideas when/if i start implementing livery refits....

In the meantime, a workaround would be to set the cargotype of the tender to passengers in the newgrf or something...

Cool. :) I'll fix that for the next release version.

Dan, for the maglev, are you going to do non-passenger versions of the driving car? I think the running cost should increase as the train gets longer, as well as the power, so I was thinking about just making all the maglev vehicles as locomotives (with the two end cars automagically changed into driving cars). This would, of course, mean the AI couldn't use maglevs, but never mind.

Why not use that contagious power thingo the ICE-3 uses in DBSetXL? Wouldnt that do the same thing?

Not only the same thing but even better. 8)

That can add power/weight per carriage, but it doesn't increase the running cost (or, of course, the initial purchase price), which kind of makes it rather unrealistic imo.

The power in a maglev comes from the track, not from the vehicles. So it should cost a certain amount to lift and propel each wagon.

[maglev, contagious power]

True.

Realistically, there´d be only one model of a coach, so why don´t make it more expensive (via action 0 prop.08 )?

IMO, contagious power would be best to model that.

That's still not going to add to the running costs, though.

I have some ideas... we'll see how they turn out. :)

Y'know just the other day I was thinking we could do with a Maglev Refix set to complement all these other renewal projects. Good work Dan :)

I do have a goods version of the cab unit in the works (2 actually) and possibly a food version and mail as well.

I like the idea of continuous power, but we'll have to see. I also need to "develop" a few futuristic diesels adn electrics because I don't plan on having bulk cargoes hauled by Maglev.

Also attached is the next Maglev in the works, the "Taurus" - It's designed to be a goods loco only, as opposed to the "Gemini" which is designed mainly as a passenger loco.

The Taurus will have refit options for goods (both van and container), food (Arctic) and possibly valuables/gold.

And the revised look of the electrics (proposed) for the ARS. Seeing as how the USSet has all Milwaukee Road based electrics for arctic, I decided to basically follow Great Northern prototype for the first 3. The GF6C is the only other prototyoe based electric. The GF10C is a 10,000HP variant, and the E15CF is a 15,000HP freight electric.

I've decided to rename this set the "North American Renewal Set" as opposed to the Arctic Renewal set.

There are a few locomotives that didn't make it into the USSet that I figured would still be good candidates for a set (and some that did make it in as well)

That said, here's the basic outline for a Tropic variant (not to compete w/the USSet or Tropic set, just a different option :D)

A few more locos will be added as well.

The Steamers are self-explanitory. The long tenders on the 4-8-4 and 4-6-4 are based on Santa Fe prototypes, and the Challenger and "FEEF" 4-8-8-4 are obvious ;) A 2-10-4 may also be added.

UP had almost as many 5000 HP DD35's and DD35B's as they had DD40AX's. I decided to include the lesser known loco. I also think I'll leave the FT out of the Arctic climate and include it here. The "Veranda" turbine is also a cool loco that, while the USSet has the Big Blow, the Veranda looks cooler IMHO ;)

I also included the SD7 as a replacement for the RS3.

I'm also planning a Temperate variant as well, I ay post that preview tomorrow 8)

Sorry to give you more coding Pikka, but I figured 90% is carryover :P Plus I've still gotta draw the things. The Temperate version's coming before the tropic.

Hehe, cool. :) I've got the Gemini coded, I'll just do the container wagons and put up the next beta.

I'm wondering if it is possible to prevent the AI from building maglevs. I know I can tell it not to build maglev trains, but it builds the track before it gets to the point where it decides what locomotive it wants to run... :(

Dan, how would you feel about the containers being goods-only (no food), to encourage the use of boxcars, reefers etc after 1965?
