I ran into an odd bug in the installer for the mega pack web installer portion. Someone else had reported this a month back.

It is a compounded error.

If your DNS is on a Cisco based device AND it can not find the file for the latest update (this can happen if the server is overloaded' slow Internet traffic or i didnt upload a config file as in the LTD3). the Stupid Cisico device generates and error script with the same name as the update file. The end result is a error "Typo in version INI type, Report as Error 2a" Error.

the update is checking the name of the update file you just got to make sure it is for the pack you have. this was intentionally coded into the pack in case i put the wrong update on the server. if he update is missing, it would normally give you an update not found error. Cisco makes the file filled with an error report if the file is missing.

Thank you Cisco (and Comcast business class for only providing a single DNS entry on a Cisco router) for being so stupid.

There was a new pack packed up yesterday (how i found the bug).the pack it will be delayed until i fix the code to check for bogus reporting from Cicso Devices. At that point this bug wont effect the mega pack any longer.

The Dekosoft packs already have a work-around built in. They ask you if you want to check for the latest version, if you get this error, re-run the install and say "no to check for latest version".

PS, the last of the SD40 updates were posted 2 days ago for those that missed them.

I tried the patch tool but it doesn't work. It gives me this error:
There is no indication of what to do next on the server, the patch tool will now exit.

My guess is that you are using the one that came with the megapack and not the one for download on AMI.

For "CLW_US_Megapack_1.1.1_Patch_Tool", the host changed. thus, there is no patch on the old host.

You have to download the updated version.


I am thinking about changing how I do pack version numbers.

Instead of counting up; major pack version # . major update # . Minor Update #. (IE. Pack 1.1.1 is Pack version = 1. major update = 1. minor update =1)

To a date system. 11.1.28 = year.month.date of the release.

I'm not sure if this will be easier or more confusing for myself and other people.

I was playing loco and was using only WP stuffs from the US Pack.
I cried when i saw this list and so i wrote it down:
1 WP U23B
1 WP FT
1 WP 50FT Boxcar
2 WP GP9
3 WP GP35

I have tried the search already with no luck to come.
So my question is:
Is there any WP stuff for Locomotion that isnt in the US Pack?

I think there is a WP 40' boxcar in their too. or was it in Jose's set? I know I have one.

Well... he is right... we do need more SD50's, although few rr's had them... one NS one would be plenty given that we already have CSX and CHESSIE.

Yes, but theyre in horrible condition.
It does sound good, but if there is one thing we need for this pack, its more equipment for railroads like CEFX or HLCX or generic paint schemes.
And also some more Switching units like GP15-1s, SW1500s and MP15DCs.
Just a thought.

I've mentioned those things too. You're right on that.
But, on the other end of the scale, what about behemoths like the Jawn Henry and C&O turbines? Moreover, what would they look like going around a curve, if they could at all?
