Will take a look at those when I get back home (I am at work now). Is there a small river ferry somewhere between those links?

Yep, the 1st, 2nd and 4th links, and some of the others as well.

Andy, i'd like to use 100t capacity for my small boat - i think your ship is about 500-800t. What do you think?
Cost - ?
Running cost - ?
reliability - ?
speed - ?

That brings me to another point: The statistics. How do we define these, how do we keep track on those (Excel file? HTML file?), and who keeps them up-to-date?

I would definitely say an excel file, similar to my egrvts one attached. This way you can first plan the statistics then insert them into the nfo file by copy/paste out of excel, replace tabs with spaces then copy into the nfo.

I'd go for an Excel file too. Question is; Who'll update it?

I'd prefer to use my ship for around 200t. I want to see a train of that capacity roll into the dock and fill up a ship with cargo. So if 12 containers arrive on a train, 12 go out on the coaster (6 on the deck, 6 in the hold - with loading sprites). I am basing train capacities on US and Canadian sets, and also GRVTS vehicles.
I think your small ship would hold around 60t - that's 2 iron ore or coal cars, or approximately a couple of goods cars.
Personally I'm not bothered about ships with huge capacities, but I think there's a very good solution for those who want more capacity: we just include a
capacity multiplier parameter. I've used the existing multiplier grf and it works well. Might as well build the parameter into the set.

I've asked Zimmlock about wood and metal cargoes (no reply yet), MPH about crates (he said yes) and Born Acorn about wood (he said yes). Purno, do you want to post your wood sprites here too?

For Passenger ships, Lt. Gable has allowed us to use his trans atlantic liners. He'll get them to me soon. We need some big liners

We have pcx and example nfo for it [created by Zephyris

]. Any volunteers?
Zephyris, very well commented code - but it's hard for me now to jump from cfml to nfo

but i'll study it, thanks a lot

Volunteers for what? We already got a coder, according to DanMacK.
