Some of you may be aware of Geoff Marshall, a somewhat well known YouTuber focusing on train videos, often around London. A while back I could been seen milling about on one of his videos, where I was one of a number of around 200 volunteer helping to make a map of the underground in the middle of a field in the summer.
In a video he uploaded today, I noticed another old time forum user. see if you can spot him. It's around halfway through the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9wGl43OX1E

Ah yes, the winner of our Top Gear style race at the London meet a few years back.

Goodbye, EU. :( Hopefully I’ll be a citizen again one day, whether as a British or Scottish citizen remains to be seen though.

That “few years” will be 12 years ago this year!

Oh no, that was back in 2016 I think!

We'll be thrilled to welcome an independent Scotland in a few years!

I think I might have been there for that. Streets of London, and we ended up in a pub in central london at Holborn?

Ah, was that the one I didn’t make it to?

You were indeed missing, Owen, but even without you as our legal guardian (and SROTU) we managed to enjoy ourselves!

Now this is neat:

https://deepai.org/machine-learning-model/colorizer

It can colour in your black and white photos!

For example, here's a photo of a part of Stockholm back in 1898:

And here's the source of the above photo. Very not-coloured: Of course, it struggles with photos where the grayish and blackish areas are too large and under-detailed, nothing to use as a reference for the AI I suppose. Still, photos like the above come out real nice!

So like, how much does a person have to post the same spam in order to get a hit?

I check my email and I have notifications for the Loco section but all that was posted were 2 threads both titled "BUY COUNTERFEIT MONEY ONLINE."

Who really falls for that?

It's rare to be so honest when trying to sell something, so i'll give them credit for that.

I work in food service and if one of our dishes is trash, I won't sell it. Or if it's marked up to $30 for the 1oz of lobster.

The forums' really quiet these days...

I was just thinking that. In fact, the other day I considered making a thread to see if everyone agrees.

OTTD section seems populated, but Locomotion is just me and spambots.

The forums indeed have been rather quiet for a while now, but we're still generating a lot of traffic (and indeed spam  )

This forum still serves a very useful purpose in hosting OTTD development which is still active indeed, and also helping people with questions. The Off-Topic and general discussion outside of the games has indeed died down a fair bit. I don't know if there's a way to find statistics.

Still, we can all help by visiting more frequently and engaging in exciting discussions. Create new topics, discuss new issues, or just spam topics like your most recent listened to music!

Or this one, I suppose. I used to be proud of myself for being the most recent poster on several subforums (when I was being helpful) but now it's just sad, as if I'm talking to myself.

The number of “viewed” hits last year is up on 2018, some 55 million versus 51 million. “Not viewed” (bots, spiders etc) is 58 million versus 71 million(!) in 2018.

2013 was 91 million viewed and 12 million not viewed apparently. 107 million/13 million in 2009, 114 million/27 million in 2007.

So numbers are down on 5 years ago sadly, but are still considerable. Maybe lots of lurkers?

Probably lurkers. I only reply to topics I'm already engaged in for the most part, but I check at least once a day to see if anyone posted in the Nations Game (not today) as well as Locomotion.

I'm also guilty of a little profile stalking, mostly to see if people who have been around for a while still visit. It seems pretty split between those who quit 2-5 years ago and those who post once a month but may have visited as recently as the same day.

God I'm bored.
