Most shopping centres have buses running to them.
Meadowhall (Sheffield) and the Metro Centre (Newcastle upon Tyne) are
both served by mainline trains, as, I think, is a shopping centre
somewhere in Leeds. The Purley Way shopping centre in Croydon will have
trams stopping there (if they ever get the bloody things working).
Maybe the player could deliver good by lorries.
Sounds sensible.

The trams are working fine at the moment, as far as I can
see. It's just that passengers aren't allowed on them!
Apparently, they have to do a six week trial run for safety
reasons - the only thing is, nobody's sure if the trial run
has actually started yet...

I know what you mean. The nearest equivalent in Britain is what they
call the cash-and-carry.
Wholesalers...It will change for each different shop you would own.
Then there's the Metro Centre near Gateshead which has its own train
service!
If you want to use a jokey version....The Trafford Centre in
Manchester......Anybody been there?.....Hahahahaha....Sorry.

My server doesn't have that one!
It has an alt.games.mornington.cresecent,
and an alt.games.mornington.cresent,
but last time when I subscribed to one of them there was nothing
interesting going on at all.

No. What was it?
That's was the "Beyond Our Ken" rural-folk version of "Look Back In

Well tell them to get it, then! It's new, but it's reached Spain and

Which is why Barry Salter, amongst others, got the uk.* one going. We
play *real* Mornington Crescent there!

I will admit to a great nostalgic affection for the Epping to Ongar
branch, where I visited frequently as a spotty youth in the fifties and
sixties. It was a sad day when it closed.

You're not missing much. The Americans (who swamped the two alt.
groups) don't know how to play, which isn't surprising as they can't get
ISIHAC over there. I can, thanks to satellite radio (big grin).

Close to? It is a locomotive in multiple with a single car
EMU. You could infact consider the GLV to be a locomotive.
They certainly can haul things around, although gapping
would be a major danger! Whether you consider the 488s to
be EMUs or not is a tricky point. They are less of an EMU
than the 4-TCs, but they are much more permanent formations
than say the WCML sets (with their DVTs).

No, the class 489 GLV might be powered, but the coach formations, <Class
488> although, not actually powered, ARE still, officially EMU's
Whether you consider the 488s to
be EMUs or not is a tricky point.
Ah yes, I see you do know this fact, but I wouldn't say that whether
class 488's are EMU's or not is a difficult question.
They ARE in effect, unpowered EMU's, that is all they are.
The class 73 and the class 489 GLV are powered, but nothing else is.
They are less of an EMU
than the 4-TCs,
Yes, they aren't really EMU's at all, it is only due to the Electrical
equipment that they carry that they are, on paper, EMU's.

To be an EMU, the train doesn't necessarily have to be powered, it is,
in effect, glorified loco hauled stock.
The Class 488's are the best example of this.

I thought 4-TC's were Actually units anyway, even though they were
sometimes Loco hauled
but they are much more permanent formations
than say the WCML sets (with their DVTs).
Yes, undoubtedly.
The only thing that is really ever changed on the Gatwick stock is the
73 and perhaps, sometimes the GLV.
The WCML and ECML stock aren't actually units though, they are just
simply plain old Mk2-4's <and Mk3&4 DVT's>.

I'm more a 73 fan, but that means that I probably still know more about
the Gatwick stock that perhaps your average enthusiast.
