To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

I dont think the loop is a problem, but the fact that its possible highlights one thing that will be. Trains going N to E merge with the main line before those going W to N leave it, meaning you'll get bottlenecks as that section will have twice the volume of trains.

Main goods station

Post by Occam »

Hi, thought I'd post a small picture of my main goods station. It manufactures about 10000 crates of goods, of which about 70% is carried to a station far away. The map is 2048x2048.

Well, I`ve finished a game, which I begon with a friend of me some time ago... We couldn`t finished it over internet, because it begans to lag... So, here is my "end of game".
It`s played on an 1024x1024 map with some newgrf enabled. The station on the left is serving over 500 trains without many delays, but there is some space for improvements left. Currently we are planning a new game with better main-lines and an even bigger map... :D

Looking good!

BTW, you don't happen to have a in-game screen of that station over there on the left?

So, here we go.
I've taken three picture of the station on the left. It's one of our main stations, it took me some time to develop the system I use in this station, but now it works good. On the screenshot, there is only low charge on the station, but if more trains arrive at one time, more of them will enter the second platform. This prevents the mainline from getting stuck with trains, waiting for a free slot in the station.

That's one big station you have there!

And a nice service center too, I am asuming that you play this game with breakdowns on?

Yeah, its quite big, I'm thinking about a bigger one on a bigger map, we'll see how it ends up. And no, I'm not playing with breakdowns, I don't like the idea of frequent breakdowns. The only reason, why I build thoses service centers is, at the moment, that the trains get a frequent service and I' able to use autoreplacement, which can come to an end in a short time. But you're right, playing with breakdown would also be possible, without many of them on the mainlines. Hopefully.
