Hello you lot, i've been keeping an eye on the forums for a while and i've been wondring if anyone's started on the airports yet?
I've got a preliminary model for a terminal but I need more information on scale, how big the planes are etc?
Anyway here it is...

@DeathByCake: as far as I understood, one blender unit is 12.5 meters, and planes will be in real size (discussed in
this thread).

I don't, I use 3ds Max.
I figure that if the planes are actual size then the airports will need to be scaled up, ho hum, back to work then.

Just a little update on the station. It's now completely tileable but not quite yet finished. It's still a bit burned out, but I'm waiting for the lightning discussion to come a conclusion before I tweak the textures. As always, critisism is welcome.
BTW, is Alltaken's railroad .blends available somewhere? I'd really like to see how my stations looks with them instead of my "I'll-duplicate-some-cubes-and-stick-them- on- a-brown-plane" rails.

That's a mighty pretty station.
As for not using blender, it's one of the most counter intuitive programs i've ever used, for all it's complexity max still lets you dive straight into the action.

I like your station, but I thing the middle part should be as high as the rest of the station thingies (I don't know the english word...) right now in the middle the floor is as low as the ground, I think it should be raised.

Actually, I think so too (and it was that way at some point)
The problem is that would require more tile types.

could you show me how the tile-ablity is now (like you've shown before)?

I really like the cleaness of it. It would be nice to make this some sorta CBD based Railway System. I actually quite like the center lowered bit.
I have a few track peices, although i dont think there avaliable anyware, casue there still being sorted. I cant seem to export to the nessesery format, so heres a max file of 1 straight peice, wich is 1 square long. I hope alltaken's ok with me sticking this here...

This should give you a clear idea of tiles, the center building is split into two different tiles). Also these are missing the orange lights from the underpasses. Also I think the building needs a wall/fence on the other side.
@Ben_Robbins_, can't open max files, but still thanks

Ok so my first ever blender. I thought I'd start with something simple (or at least I thought so when I started). Its called a bobcat here, I figure it will be useful for anyone who wants to do construction frames for their buildings.
Its completely the wrong scale at the moment, I haven't figured out how to scale the model as a whole yet, consequently I haven't been able to use the standard lighting setup either.
I've kept it simple, because its my first model (duh) and at the scale it will be used detail would be unseen anyway.

My only crit is that the stairs look a bit steep and there doesn't seem to be any wheelchair accesability

I'll see what I can do about the stairs.
I was actually considering wheelchair accessibility, but gave up on that. For the side stairs that's easy, but for the underpass it's bit of a problem. Ramps there would look way too steep and I couldn't figure out any other solution. The real life equivalent of this station has an elevator in the "tower" and the stations itself is higher than the ground level and the floor of the underpass is on ground level, so it's wheelchair accessible. Any suggestions are welcome.
