I was wondering when you plan to release an updated version of the spinoff, Korenn?
Anytime soon? And what version of OTT will it be build on?
Best regards,
CyrusDK

I found that if you copy the contents of the data folder to the main folder that the spinoff works with the latest OTTD version.

I think he means one of this possibilities:

Well, actually all you have to do is copy all the files in the openttd-challenge file to your data directory

my ttwo cents, (spanish, with the face of the f**g king on them)
I love the spinoff, above most things, only that it has limited playability because these factors:
the cities tend to destroy your stations
the map is too big
then it's tedious to go around repairing your station because of the lack of care of the Mayor's love for dinamite
TOO MANY VEHICLES?!

Grr!
9 years into me stepping up to the 'challenge' (by the way, excellent work) I am hit with a complete slap in the face!
I'm happily building along, and then all of a sudden... TOO MANY VEHICLES.
I've lived with the intermittent crashing, learnt not to bulldoze roads, and I'm living with other quirks... but this...
Since the challgenge does not have a cfg, I could use some help.
Screenie attached.

The game uses the OTT CFG file, so you can put the max number of vihicle in there.
I'm currently running over 120 trains, so it is possible.

Raven wrote:2nd!!!, i didn't care about making town too big, just a commuter for every pair of them and a fund new buildings and they grow to 1200 people alone!!. very interesting, i'll play it again much more calmly to run cargo and passenger around, and maybe reach the capitol size

(i did it in so much rush i just changed the company colour to dk green

I call bulls*** upon this.
How on earth, through your own displayed financiary statements could you have possibly earnt 400'000'000 euro's when your yearly train income was only 1.3-1.6 Million per year?
Let alone your remaining 73 million you were left with after only 14 years.
Assuming your highest income displayed of 1.4million euros in one year was constant throughout the 14 years of operation, that only leaves a potential
revenue of 22.4 million euros, let alone 73, or even
400 million euros!
Please Explain?

Hello guys, thanks for still playing the spinoff
Since it's summer vacation now, I'm spending my time with doing stuff I feel like doing, which is Go, SWG and reading atm.
I'll get back to the spinoff in a week or two. Top priority on the todo list is to convert it to a patch to apply to the latest ottd version, so we can use all those pretty new features.
oh and Raven, the map is big yes, but you're not supposed to connect all industries or cities like in normal ttd, there's a definite goal now
You'll love the bigger maps in multiplayer!

did i complain about the big map?

HOw if i LOVE it!!!, i meant that the only problem i found was that cities destroy your stations-tracks, and that, in a big map, makes it tedious. I love this spinoff!, this is the main reason i play OTTD, and why i made my full conversion set for Japan Railways!!
keep up the good work (but not now, enjoy summer too

W00t! You saved me.

I didn't realise that this version has that too. W00t! I have also made £54 million now.
If only there was an option in the cfg file to fix all the bugs...

Or not.
This is in my openttd.cfg...
Code: Select all
max_trains = 300
max_roadveh = 300
max_aircraft = 300
max_ships = 300
....but it won't let me build more the 159 trains.

because the limit is coded into the sources, to allow the possibility to have more vehicles you have to recompile it

Put 254 to each, if you specify higher values you get stange max limits, as shown.

Will we see any new version of the spinoff? And even the source-code for non-windows users?

I'm passed the terms now, so I might as well
trying to figure out how to make a patch from my code...

there is a maximum for the number of complete trains you can have (as defined in the cfg) and there is also a hardcoded limit of 4096 vehicles (rail cars, locomotives, trucks, boats, planes, helicopters) total in the game.... you can only increase this limit by recompiling the game.

new version out, based on the svn of about a week ago. (see title post)
I'll update it soon to the latest svn and make a patch.
