Very few british trains had headlights until the 1980s.
Ah ok, then we'll do without headlights :)

Hey, in the latest nightly, r272, theres only 3 trains, and the extra info is all messed up, seams like it should be used with another 2cc Build but the grf id is the same.
Could you do somehting about that in the next nightly?

Yes we can and will. (Un?)Fortunately we're not perfect and make mistakes, too. Sometimes things go wrong when adding or modifying stuff - which happened in this case. Broken nightlies should not happen, but they do. They might even in the next time happen a bit more often than good as we're testing and implementing stuff (mostly internals) in a different way, testing for v2 of the 2cc train set.

the new grfid is already fixed, and the newgrf list name as well :) And from todays nightly should there be around 20 mus, all or most of them _should_ be bugfree :)

So far I have never done this, but I would like to give making graphics and grf coding a try.

Is there some kind of list of vehicles that still need to be drawn for the 2.0 version? Or do I just start with any vehicle I would like to see in 2cc?

BTW: Great work, you guys! Best set ever!

You can always get the lastest development snapshot from http://bundles.openttdcoop.org/2cctrainset (new nightlies compiled at 18:18h CEST) and the whole repository from http://dev.openttdcoop.org/projects/2cctrainset . Basically you can go an draw what you think is missing and we'll most likely be very happy to include it into this set. Mind to use one of the template images as found in the repository (you can browse it online) - it makes inclusion into the set WAY easier.

Have a look in the first post in this thread, as it gives some directions. Basicly; use grays, magic green and magic blue :) And yes, you can draw pretty much anything you want, and if its good enough, we are happy to include it.

In general, have a look at a few of the things purno have drawn and notice how windows are used (colors etc), how doors are applied, and so on.

Recently all the nightlies after r271 are really f'ed up, missing a bunch of engines or wagons\cars, and have messed up graphics, eg. the ICE3 has messed up graphics with bits of white blocks and the sprites are static and dont change direction. Also theres stuff like WORD_MDSPEED or something like that in the info part of the buy list.

The more recent (post 290 ish) should be (mostly?) bugfree. We had a problem with the software, so it scewed the gfx files when it were uploaded. This is now fixed, but as you say, it lacks a lot of engines, all wagons and all metros. This is due to we are heading towards version 2.0 and its not yet finished :) Currently most mus are finished, and a good few engines as well. More are comeing along daily. On the bonus side, all sprites are now properly aligned :)

Sure, well, it would be nice if someone would so some more American\Canadian Diesels, a few I'd like to see are the krauss Maffei ML4000, EMD F45, and the MPI MP40PH-3C

Also maybe some chinese and japanese trains to like the DJJ1 "Blue Arrow", some Commueters from both Countries and a 2cc Shinkansen

And browns for wheels and such. And of course bright yellow for headlights and red for rearlights.

My graphics should still be online at the website, aren't they?

EDIT: Graphics are still online, but is new artwork gathered there too?

Well for reference I decoded the actual 2cc set. The deal with magic blue I got, but what's with those ~10 different tones of pink, that don't really look different? I find them in almost every sprite.

BTW, which ones of the green series is "magic green"? 083400, 1c3418 or 103418?

try to decode with "-p2", as that gives you the correct palette. But, why not use the source directly? :) http://dev.openttdcoop.org/projects/2cc ... repository

edit:
@Purno: Im not actually sure if that is the case. When im done with 2.0 i'll check up just that :)

Ok thanks, it seems I was looking n the wrong repository then - there I only found one template as grf.
With those pcx I should be able to get going very quickly. Thanks!

Ok well I have completed my first trial sprite. Please consider that this is the first time I tried to fit a whole train engine onto a few pixels - I'm pretty sure there's room for improvement. Just to see whether I made some basic mistakes.

I chose the French class BB 22200 (en.Wikipedia), this would be the predecessor to the already included 26000 Class. A few stats:
Built 1976 - 1986
UIC Class. B'B'
Length 17480mm
Weight 90t
Max speed 160km/h (later equipped up to 200km/h)
Power 4360kW (later up to 5600kW)
Tractive Effort 294kN

See pics and wikipedia page for details

Ok well once I get this first sprite done completely, I thought I might turn to one of those engines:

French Class 67400 (Diesel)
1969-1975
140km/h - 1765kW

Bavarian Class S3/6 (Steam)
1908-1931
120km/h - 1300kW

German Class 103 (Electric)
1965 - 1973
200km/h (up to 285km/h) - 7440kW

Some of the Siemens EuroSprinter Engines (all electric)
For example Spanish Renfe Class 252 (Spanish article)
1991 -
220km/h - 5600kW
Or Danish EG 3100 (Litra EG) (Danish article)
1999-2000
140km/h - 6500kW

ADtranz „Blue Tiger“ (Diesel)
1996-2003
120km/h - 2460kW

What are the general thoughts about these engines? Any one of them redundant?

Could you upload a PNG image of your sprites? PCX images don't load in my browser.

Additionally, looking at the reference picture, it looks a lot like the NS 1600 I already drew for both the Dutch Trainset as the 2cc Trainset. You might be interested taking a look at my sprites, since the shape is identical.

Hey you're right - these engines are pretty similar. (Only difference is that the French engine was built earlier)

I've attached the png version of my sprite version - even though I now have seen how it can look when done properly :-) Expect an update soon

P.S. doesn't eog (or okular for KDE) show the pcx just fine?

Most graphics programmes do. But no browser I know of. And it's way easier to visit this forum with a browser only and see the sprites at a glimpse w/o resorting to the help of a graphics programme.

And yes, your sprites look nice :-) - good stuff for v2 of this set.

Now that I read the wikipedia article I linked to myself for 5 minutes, I see that they in fact ARE identical. The NS 1600 is based on the SNCF BB 7200, which is the DC version of the 22200.
Now what do we do? I might update the graphics a little to loose the little fan grill on the left and add the "funky" color stripe along the sides to make a separate sprite, but basically it's the same engine. The only advantage of the French version is that it's available 4 years earlier...

That's just great - the first engine I painted has already been done
