Yes and I agree with you, so perhaps your idea would be the better one:

A switch that can be enabled in game, that does all the stuff I mentioned in my above post. I.E.
Raichase wrote:Autorenew x where x is a number between say 1 and 10. I wonder what the patchman thinks, because it's a good idea. Although we woudl have to have the money in your account, so that woud make the switch harder to implement (ie the account must have at least double the money needed)

It would be cool too to use the new news thingie to have a news article when it happens so that you know whats happening.

"Raichase Transport announces major refurbishment of current passenger cars"

"Raichase Transport Fails to Deliver on promises of new passenger cars due to lack of funds"

Or something like that. I only say passenger carrages above because they would be the upgrade the public would be most interested in.
Feels odd to quote myself, but it's probably easier to have the whole idea in one post instead of scattered over many.

I hope it's possible, i have really warmed to the idea. Of-course it could be possible but "too much work for too little result" and I understand that.

We could base em on the Manley Moral model, add another level, lower the windows in the middle etc etc. I'll try and find a link to a pic of Australias dd trains.

Please patchman implement our idea?

Heres a link to our diff types of electric transport:

http://www.cityrail.info/aboutus/trains/train_16.jsp

I'll put this on the "suggestions for new trains" thread also.

Yea I agree raichase, it'll be nice to see a tangara in tdd, you know how there's two types on manley's (i think), One can be the train 7 (old version) and the other can be the Tangara

We could also stand to write over the TIM and perhaps that silly Kirby Paul tank perhaps?

I have a great suggestion, that many of you have already come up with I think. But saying it again may help focus attention to it! :)

The biggest request would be signals inside of tunnels! Cause as you all know, tunnels now really suck. The other, closely related (not sure if possible) would be tunnels that can turn. So you enter from the east, and exit on the south. I don't know if this could be done, but would be great :).

Another suggestion would be an ingame cheat where you reset the goods at your station. I know this already exists, but it does it for all your stations (and AI's). How about placing a sign right next to a station, doing the "Cht: ResetStation" cheat and then it only resets the station right next to it, and not all of them?

I don't know if it's already in the works (I thought I read about it), but here are 2 more, that could be pretty easy:
1. sort vehicles in window (trains, bus, plane, etc.) buy name, number, profit, orders - see2 -.
2. be able to give a certain order to a group of vehicles. For example if you have 5 trains doing the same route, you only have to make that once, and assign it to the 5 trains. This is much easier to maintain if you have to change something, and you know for sure if the route's good or not (whether when doing it seperately, 1 route you added will be slightly different, cause you just can't keep track of all of them).

Oh, and a 3rd :P
3. Having stations on different levels be the same (already said I think).

I heard Josef was working on lights but it was not in tunells only on squares where are enters to tunnels ... ... anyway is it very hard ....

good idea because sometimes when I'm building big station (with spread 15 squares) and after buldozing some parts I'm noticing that station sign is far away from station .. but always you can is rebuild this station ..

some people were suggesting this ... i don't remember what Josef said

hard ... because first they should be connected and as you know we can't build stations at sloops

What I meant by this is not about the sign. Who cares about the sign? :P. What I meant is that for example u have a station where you collected Gold and gold catchment area is by a bus station. When u stop transporting gold (or resolve to get it from another station), the rating for gold stays there, just on very poor (10%), and it will never go away, unless you demolish all stations, wait till the station name disappears and rebuild it. Of course this is impossible to do on a busy station that you have extended half the map to get to the middle of a city :P So if you do a resetstation cheat on that station, it will revert back to as if it has just been built.

Sorry to say  but the curvey tunnels are impossible... The tunnels are written into to the source code in that respect. Some of your other ideas sound good but!

I've got a new suggestion: Could you implement a renew also for busses/trucks? Cause I use about 2/3 busses/trucks in a town to keep ratings up, but of course as of yet they don't make $10.000 profit a year (it's 1990). The problem is, that this is the only thing that keeps me from becoming tycoon, since I already got 904 points, and only those stupid 4wheeled biatches hold me back. I wouldn't want to renew 80 vehicles by hand.....

As we're here, how about a renew for engines? :)

Theres a switch that automatically has them replaced, but not upgraded. I have mine to 6 months, so that i get notification, then i have 6 months to manually send them to a depot and upgrade them, otherwise the game sends them to a depot and makes their age go back to 0 years, with the appropriate cost deducted from my cash balance

Its somewhere in the manual i think, i'm not 100% sure on that though, it may be an alpha switch

Yes, it's called renew :) "autorenew &/ forceautorenew"
Using the switch "autorenew", all vehicles will be automatically renewed the given number of months before (or after) they reach the maximum age. Note that they will be replaced by an identical vehicle, it is not (yet?) possible to change the engine type. Vehicles with an obsolete engine will not be renewed.
I got 1 question about that though. I noticed that let's say my train has 5 orders, and I send it to a depot when it is at order 4; to renew (drop old engine to garbage bin, buy new one), the order jumps back automatically to 1. This means that I have to press 'skip' 3 times to have the train continue on his normal route.

This is not a problem when I do it myself, cause I pay attention to that, but with that switch, that does it automatically for you, I lost a few millions worth of profit that year, while I figured out why the heck all those trains were doing. It turns out that they were too old, and got replaced automatically thanks to the switch. But all the orders jumped back to order #1, and that screwed up the whole system.

Hmm, wait, I should post this somewhere else to, this is more like a bug.
As we're here, how about a renew for engines?
I meant a cheat there :)

In my games it always just goes to the next order - they never go back to order one for me...

Are you using "service at" orders ?
This always sends your vehicles to the depot you want when renewal is needed
I put my depots before my loading station and give it the first order: go to depot and then push full load, this changes the order in "service at"

=> my trains never get lost
=> after renewal they go to their first order
Well, back to work, lot's of it in the near future

I didn't know that was for renewing, i thought it was just for servicing - i use it to great effect with my helicopters, they can go between heliports and then divert to a relevant airport when they need a service.

Actually i dunno what i woudl do without that switch...

Oh, Patchman, i expereinced the thingie about the "cows" (as my game calls em) and the wheat not getting unloaded properly. Miscmods 8 works great, and i still got feeder service "on". I rely on feeder service too much. Actually, thats another good switch :)

I also force them to go to that depot, so it's service too
