This is a bunch of firsts for me: (256x256 random map, by the way)
-First game with a multi or mega station (different drop offs than pick ups)
-First game with more than 50 trains(first time to cross 100)
-First monorail
-First billionaire retire (I just let it run out on FF last night. Today I learned how to buy competitors, so, I'm not done playing yet. I'll start working again from this save date later tonight and see how far I can take it)
-First airports
Lessons learned:
-Why you need to cross over or underground even in the same direction. I spent ten years overhauling, and then re-overhauling the crossing from east of "picking up" to the "dropping off" side and vice versa. This lesson later proved very useful in at least two other parts of the map.
-Why you need turnarounds!
-Why 90s are bad. The choke at the exit of the mega station caused me to use that waiting area on the back end more than I should have had to. I SHOULD have tunneled that East West line at the top and expanded north before the cities got so thick and I put in another passenger station up there.
Overall, this is the first game I'm really proud of. Dinkin around I had a hundred and fourty some odd trains at one point running without much congestion at all, and no parking lots at one point last night. Then I reverted to what you see here and let this run out to get to billionaire.
My first mega station and another part of the map I'm also proud of:
