Nyon-Liestal International airport serves the main city of the country. Not a lot is happening really but the daily fuel train is seen departing the fuel siding to return to the refinery.
Liestal residents were fiercely against the construction of the airport but there has been a significant improvement to transport links to the town as a result.

I don't like the overgrown tracks, makes it look untidy but the centre of the network complete with marshalling yard.

Here is an overview of the line from Uzwil to Cham. The viaducts at Payerne are knackered, decrepit and the lack of connectivity at Cham makes the station unpopular with users, passengers from further afield often choose the route via the diesel lines to arrive in Cham South instead, a station that is rather underused at present. The overall scheme would free space up in Cham for development. Improve journey times to Cham from Uzwil. The route via Steffisburg would see a more reliable service by adding fast lines from Cham, Prilly would have a much more useful service by being included in the S-bahn network of Cham rather than the hopeless shuttle service it once had (and was withdrawn in 1955) and finally, the main destination for passengers from Luzern was Uzwil anyway and this now meets the demand.
Payerne is better served by a new shuttle from Uzwil rather than the infrequent trains to Luzern and although the line to Winterthur closes, the alternative routing via bus to Payerne is set to be quicker than the old option.
Red is closure, Blue is new line, Orange is rationalisation of existing infrastructure (the 2 track mainline will be reduced to single track and catenary removed). Green is new road/bus route.

Uzwil station was a bit of a mess and the track layout just didn't match what was required. It also posed a problem as to how the proposed 4-tracking of the mainline from the west would be handled. Here's how it looked in 1965.
At this stage the 4 through platforms were at capacity but the 3 terminal platforms were under utilised due to the fact that they were could not be accessed from the mainline. The proposal was to remodel the eastern throat of the station along with Uzwil North station and to make the current terminal platforms through lines with the lines diving under Emmen.

Upon completion of the project this is how Uzwil station looked. The mainline has also been diverted from the old route in the far right corner through new tunnels to reach Cham. The old route now serves as a branch line to Luzern.

Cham in 1968. Inspired by Valencia and Nice the river has been diverted and turned into a park, the former Cham North has been demolished apart from the facade which stands forlornly at the waters edge.

Appenzell was a major bottleneck elsewhere on the network, to relieve this issue an avoiding line was built. Here the new line has just opened, this will allow the old line through the town centre to close and the old railway bridge to be converted to road use for a bus link from Rheinfelden to allow the station there to close.

The reworked junction at Worb to allow the 4 track mainline to split. The importance of the marshalling yard has declined somewhat with the hump being removed and less trains using it generally. It does still retain a significant role in the network however.

Thanks!

Schaffhausen lost a lot of importance when the mainline was routed away from it. Formerly the staging point where steam traction was replaced with electric to cross the mountain range, a new more direct route opened to the south. The line over the mountains worked by life expired electric stock was closed and Schaffhausen only maintained a railway presence due it's sheer size. The branch to Gossau was lifted and replaced by a bus service and the express service to Basel replaced by a DMU all stops service. The line over the mountains, while devoid of all catenary and signalling does remain and preservationists hope to return trains to the former through platforms once again. The engine sheds, turntable and stabling sidings have all been removed in the name of progress though and the route from Basel slewed into the old Gossau bay platform.

Liestal HBf, the busiest station in the country. Not a lot to be said really beyond that.

Herisau was for years served by two seperate unconnected stations but finally a bit of joined up thinking happened to make this new station to add connections between the lines. Passeneger numbers soared as a result and the lower line was enhanced with electrification and new tunnels on a faster alignment.

What GRF did you use for the waypoint signal boxes?

Michael Blunck's New Stations.

Edit: I also use the Canadian station set, but not many of those see much use.

Lovely shots - love the basic little stations in the top pic. Reminds me of some of the tiny stations you would see on Czech railways.
