I got a scenario for this
It has a few VERY small towns on mountaneous islands and one large city on it's own island at sea level. It only has 1 coal mine and 1 power plant at opposite sides of the map.

is it a bug?
ok, lets open another kind of competition: city size!!!
in the map "West Country 90201" there exist a tiny city, Nailsworth.
the goal is: make it larger!!!
this game will not limit the difficulties or cheating. So feel free to make use of them. The game end in 2050. That's all.
Edit:
oops, year cheating is not allowed.

but these switches will not improve the city growth, right?
even if these switches help the city grow, they cannot alter the city size directly. you still need time to enlarge it.

I've fixed the sign cheats at my
game analysis page. Can people test this again and let me know the results? In addition, if you've used any TTDPatch 1.9.1+ sign cheats, let me know if these show up. They should do, I hope.

The TTD Competition site, when done, will also have a feature where the competition creator can set options (eg, number of AI competitors, etc - everything from the Difficulty Settings window) and the site will automatically generate an OPT.DAT file. The user can then just download this, plop it in their TTD directory, and start the scenario. I will also create a similar thing for TTDPatch configuration files, where the creator can specify which parameters can be modified by the user, and which are 'set in stone', and, if Josef builds in a feature he's mentioned on the mailing list (keeping a record of all switches used in the SV1), the site can compare the saved game to the original switches and reject the game if banned switches have been used, etc.

That will be great!!
...also it needs something for graphics to use.

That would be possible too... I could make it so users could upload custom graphics files too for use in their competitions.
EDIT: Just so everybody knows, I obviously won't be able to implement all this overnight. It may be a couple of months before it's all done, but this is now one of my top priorities.

Hey, if you people want a league, you need the following stuff:
1) fair rulez (obviously) -- this one's rather impossible, so the second is
2) an uncompromised faith in league players -- this one is unbelievable, so
3) only few rulez and goodwill remain...
In order to maintain the players' joy, social and bladder (you played Sims, didn't you?) and keep them coming, let's make a unique TTD site amongst all of'em.. If someone can provide me these: a TTD RV
breakdown sound, steam loco whistle (same source), and everything else that suits (short & common TTD sounds), I'll make the best interactive flash you've ever seen!! Too bad I don't have much time, so I can't extract these sounds by myself.
once more: only TTD SOUNDS, please
Just for the reference -
THIS IS NOT AN AD - you may see what I can do at
Fruity Loops website. The flash you're going to see is not mine, but that's the most I can show at this time, cause all my work is currently offline. Stay tuned..

I think it would be great to see how different people here would build on the same map. However, I would suggest against leaving the map blanked of industries. Yes it would be difficullt, but the problem is that the game then becomes one more of luck rather than skill, since new industries will appear randomly on different games, so wouldn't really be fair. For example, on Samyew's map, within 3 months a new power station was built within relatively easy reach of the coal mine. Whereas, for someone else, the coal mine might've closed down. Incidently, the presence of a large town meant this map is actually relatively easy, just slow (2 bus stops in it ala AI style).
I do like the idea of the challenge to build up a town to the biggest! That would be a bit different from simply most amount of money.
