Do I understand it right that the thing of the left is rails? If so, then the scale was not chosen properly. It should be smaller to fit with trains.

Its an conveyor belt and also moves on caterpillars. The conveyor belt itself isn't meant to be moving!

Again long time have passed...
Have been drawing pixel in a day and so far what I have achieve... Still needs few pixels!
And... I thinking to add some other coal loader down the mine, more modern one! And... thinking to make another coal mine smaller and a shaft mine like the in the old days, little rail cars and stuff. So we have 2 era mine, old and modern one!

And also something for Dan... You did ask, I couldn't resist :) Colors need some adjustment

I much like this one and the previous one. I still think it would be awesome if there was a gap left so you could build your own road down into the mine, but I'd be very satisfied to see this in the game. Pikkabird also had a similar style of pit mine that he had in one of his old industries (UK in the Sun I think?). Would love to see more strip mines like this. Maybe also for a more modern mine, just have a simple mine camp with a few trailers and whatnot with a couple of shafts entering horizontally into the side of a hill?

This one doesn't work as well in my eyes. I think it's because it looks like the workings are piled above ground rather than dug into the ground. I'm not sure how this would be remedied but that is how I view it.

The ramp down should be slightly darker, else it seems a little like everything's flat.

i'd downsize the bagger by factor 2-ish, it's definitely too big for the surroundings...

One thing I would do is increase the size of the shovel to almost 2X. These suckers were BIG!

Excellent. Very realistic. All that's missing is a bunch of Greenpeace demonstrators parading with signs at the gate.

I think the thing that does it is that the buildings are so close to the edge making it look like the edge is over the base of the buildings implying a heap rather than a hole.

Shouldn't the big shovel leave some tracks in the ground?

I was holding up room and tried to make it look like overburden is piled against the buildings otherwise the mine is going too big... Btw at the beginning when I start drawing the mine I wanted just an open pit mine with machinery and no buildings (I still think there's plenty of stations sets what we can use to add "mine infrastructure" to the open coal mine) Reason I tried this kind of mine was that people said its too empty....

Haven't done nothing with the ground inside the mine and the ramp. Just copy/paste the ground to have some kind of base.

Edit: To Ameecher... Something like this

That's what I'm also talking about... and some other ones! Also heard rumors that Canadian stations includes coal loading and unloading infrastructure if it gets released one day....

What was said earlier was correct, the bed of the pit should be darker than the actual ground, because at the moment they look like they are at the same level and the sides as just piles sitting on top.
