Re: OTTD Music Replacement Project
Nearly done one.
I personally prefer if we stick to the general sound set used in the original music. I had a listen, and he sticks to quite a few sounds. For me, those sounds really create part of the atmosphere for TT. I don't know if anyone else agrees at all, but that's just my 2 bob.

Re: OTTD Music Replacement Project
Me likes the song. What BPM is it? That's a good tempo.
I WOULD go with the generic sounds, but Anvil appears not to have even all of that!
What I want is just the generic sounds; a mixture of keys, percussion, brass etc like in original TT.

Re: OTTD Music Replacement Project
if some was to know the arrangements of TTD songs and knew how to play them on different instruments and recorded this and implanted into an open source game would this be breaking any US copy right laws?
i had an great idea on making clones of the songs with different instruments preformed live by me via reading music sheets
it would not be hard to do maybe altering the songs some would help keep away from legal issues if there is even the possibility for one?
forgot to ask how do i test the music in game?

Re: OTTD Music Replacement Project
Have you tried following the instructions at the first post of this thread? There might be a newer way by changing an .obm file which might be documented at the dev-page.Starn wrote:forgot to ask how do i test the music in game?

Re: OTTD Music Replacement Project
Any thoughts on how I can get ALL the generic sounds into Anvil?
@Owen: How are things with that old script of yours you said you were redoing (for OpenMSX)?

Re: OTTD Music Replacement Project
Hazza so far your little blue box car is the single best track contributed, it's got a smooth flow and it doesn't feel forced into sounding tt'ish.
Keep this up!

Okay, posting mine once more. I believe it is properly licensed now-- GPL is included inside the .zip file, as I can't exactly include it in the file itself. It should be fit for inclusion now.

Thanks Hazza and Mr.Ksoft. Very nice pieces of music Your contributions (LittleBlueBoxCar and ModernMotion respectively) have been added to OpenMSX and should become available in the next nightly.
It nearly smells like there should even be a first pre-release, so that it could even be obtained easily via bananas in order to cause even more appetite

Then release it on Bananas, then even more people can find it rather then dig through posts in the forumsplanetmaker wrote:Thanks Hazza and Mr.Ksoft. Re: OTTD Music Replacement Project
Well... I have started on me first song. All drums at the moment, and not long either. I can't think of a tune at all. All I can think of are either existing or are wayyyyyyyy too basic or silly. Suggestions welcome!
Here's the little progress I've made so far.

Re: OTTD Music Replacement Project
awesome this project is coming along nicely i think by the time i come up with all the songs and possibly for me to look into some copyright law loop holes and seeing about how legal it is to make remake of the original sound track if its legal i can come out with a full remake in about... a TBD basis
Re: OTTD Music Replacement Project

Re: OTTD Music Replacement Project
I fully agree. There's no point to copy the original, as there obviously are talented composers and musicians out there. Why should they settle with re-playing what exists and not do something geniously unique in their own awesome style as long as it fits the game? I prefer a thousand times something new over a cheap copy.Roujin wrote:No. No, no no no no.

Re: OTTD Music Replacement Project
Download the 0.1.0.
The music is really great, i expected an great work, but this, this even give new life into OpenTTD!
@Hazza
Your music it's really a nice piece, but it's kinda hard to hear it using headphones, there is a part (around 00.13, and several times after) that plays only in the left ear repeatedly like an "hammer" that really makes it tired a little bit, since it can't be heard by the right ear. Try put it a little in the right too, it will make it perfect.
