Tree Growing = Annoying

Post by neX!Tem »

Hy, im new... HELLO TO EVRYONE :D

I wonder if there is any thing i can do about the "Tree Growing" its annoying, we start at 1920 and about 25 years later the hole world is full of trees! I cant even see my own train network without turning on transparent, i like the trees really but i hate it if they get too much, i would like to have them growing only at the start positions, so they don't get more and more and more...

(I don't like the Amazons! XD)

ok, thanks for answers , BTW my English is not that great but i hope you understand what i want ^^

€dit: s*** i postet in the false forum... don't meter :) can someone change it to OpenTTD General . THANKS =)

Not much you can do about it, as far as I know.

Also, kindly install an English-language spell-checker before you post here again. I can deal with "the false forum" (in English we say "wrong") but "anoying" is just plain annoying.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Transparent trees is the best option I know of for dealing with this. In case you haven't found it yet, there is an option in 'configure patches' which will give you fully transparent trees. In the newest versions of OTTD, that option is replaced by new buttons on the transparency GUI window. The transparency GUI window can also be displayed at any time by pressing ctrl-x.

By the way, DaleStan isn't being mean; he just finds being accurate more important than being friendly. The forum has plenty of helpful people on it, and a few who are less helpful (sometimes because they have seen the question asked n+1 times before, and sometimes because they are plain grouchy).

cheers,

Andy

I also agree invisible trees is the best solution. I don't like transparent, because having too many trees makes it just as difficult to see, so I make them totally transparent. Sometimes I disable the transparency to take a look of my network and see how good it looks :D and also when I have to deal with some town reluctant to station-building.
I am little, ugly, and nasty. How do you do?

If you are not afraid to compile the game yourself: there's a patch out there which allows to disable trees to grow:
Flyspray
Be aware that some industries in tropical or arctic climate need trees in order to work - don't use "no tree growth" with those climates.

Changing the tree algorithm to the 'original' setting on the world generator creates them in clumps of forest rather than all over with the improved setting if thats any help.
