alas there is a but in YAPP with this pack

http://tinyurl.com/6o76bk

in this scenareo train 1 turns arround at the end of the line (at 2) without getting a path
even though the path is allredy taken by train 2 coming from 3

this does not happen with just YAPP on a clean trunk

Well, train 1 is 3 waggons long - which means it doesn't fit behind the signal in front of station 2. I believe accepted behaviour is for the train to turn around, stop, and wait for a free path - in my experience, that is just what happens, also using this patchpack. Maybe it's the station that makes the difference - have you tried without station (and possibly without the non-functioning signal too)?

indeed the same occurs with just a locomotive without any carrages,
and when there is no sattion at all just an empty end of line,

without the signal the same still happens, where in that case the other train should not get a path untill the first train has reversed and cleared the block

Attempted playing CARSTS world scenario with the GRF's (newstations, PlaneSet, DB Set, German Tram Set) but got the following error on loading the scenario (both 1950 and 1920 versions:

Game Load Failed
Broken Savegame - Invalid Chunk Size

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

(Also, nice patchpack).

EDIT: The same happened with another scenario.

Morning,

I also can attest a good work, so now I think its the best patch of all in this forum :)

But i have seen very pity mistakes of the AI during building their rail network, concrete the stations and the signals (modern not before 1955, but its 1930 in game).
look the pics

1: Wrond side Station and a driving train on a piece of track
2: Only 1 of 2 tracks are reachable
3: Only the way from NE to SW seems to go, NW to SE wasnt "discovered"

The patch option "Automatischer Bau von Formsignalen bis: xxxx" only determines what kind of signal is built if you simply click on the rails with the build signals tool. It is only of relevance for the interface of the player (thus it is in the "Interface" section of patches). It doesn't at all forbid you (the player) to build electric signals if you want to (CTRL+click on the rail, or use the signal GUI and select the electric variant), nor does it regulate which variant of the signals the AI will use.

Since the AI is very old, and back in TTD there were no semaphors (Formsignale), the AI will always use electric ones if I remember correctly.

Regarding the other problem (AI building weird stuff), one of the many patches in the pack seems to have broken it...

Now, I have the reason for the broken AI. Of all things, the DB set XL 0.82 is reinducing the rail/station collision. Without, it works correctly (only SW-NE way is used by AI)

Is it planned to update your patchpack, because yapp 9.0 is now in trunk?

As far as loading old scenarios goes. You can't with this patch pack i'm afraid. Something to do with the save game and invaild something or other....in a nutshell, it looks like if you're going to have all these patches together, you can't use old scenarios...a very small price to pay in my opinion.

What you can do is load the respective heightmap and place towns yourself....in fact, with the found a town patch, you could even place things as you go along. Heightmaps will load absolutley fine in this patch pack.

I've found that most people will put a heightmap with their scenario...and i think Carsts has done so on the wiki.

It's not possible with any of the recent patchpacks because the authors couldn't be bothered by savegame compatability. The MiniIN maintained backward compatability with trunk (the version it was synced up to ofcourse) and it's own savegames from previous versions. So it can be done, but... apparantly nobody cares about the users of the patchpack anymore, and his/her own mind because people keep using and reporting bugs of ancient versions of the patchpack because their savegames can't be loaded in later versions.

Interesting, thank you. I thought it was purely a technical thing.

I'm not going get into how much work it takes or whether people should be bothered because i know little about it so i'm not in a place to comment.

I like the patchpacks that are built...and MiniIn was great in its day...but i'm always aware that things might not go as i would like them when i use patchpacks, and save my games a lot ....i always keep a nightly version for games that i would like to last longer or just want to play straight out without many risks.

Having said that, as soon as a new patch is released that i have interest in, i'll move away from the patchpacks and will try that patch. I find it fun trying out all the different stuff on here.

Hi :-)
I've got some problem with your patchpack. I don't know where is the problem, because my friend plays it without problems. I got to know, when I load game before error, it's okay, but when the new bus come to bus stop, game crash.
