Combo Stations
Combo Stations
Hi all.
In my old TTDLX games when the overflow and inflow of materials and goods in and out of a factory got too large, I would attach an airport to the rail station near it and then fly in raw materials and goods out.. It works pretty well, but I haven't really seen anyone use this tactic. When you brought in the raw materials from all the way across the map, you got a *LOT* of $$$ I couldn't split the stations due to the goods showing up in the places where I didn't want them to. Obviously TTDPatch can fix this problem. The problem I had to watch out for was too many airplanes on 'full load orders', but I usually had trains bringing in raw materials so they could get out without too much trouble. If I had 2 airports I think I could have all the raw material airplanes on 1 and the full load goods on the other and combine the goods station with that it should get some pretty good throughput...
Looking to buy a version of TTDLX/windows - is it purchaseable anywhere?
aw

Re: Combo Stations
i think most ppl (or at least i do) use two stations or more at feactories, one for raw materials and one for goods, so no traffic jams are created.aaronw wrote:Hi all.

The problem with buying TTD is not that it costs money (it should be pretty cheap now), but that you can't buy it. The game is not produced anymore and I'm afraid it is out of stock in 99.99% of the shops.
I always use seperate raw materials and goods stations at factories with a high production. With TTDPatc't presignals you can make very efficient networks almost without any trafficjams.

Re: Combo Stations
I guess my 'one station per factory' is a hold-over from my non TTD-patch days, when goods ould show up at all stations and wreck your rating.. I'll have to get used to the 'new' way of playing. Do you connect both stations to the main line and have the goods and materials all intermingled? I used to make HUGE networks...Iconmaker wrote:

As far as money, I wouldn't consider it a 'waste'. It's a good game, and I wouldn't mind paying for it.
Ooh, cool.. But it looks like this is UK/EU only. I am in the USA... Any other pointers?MagicBuzz wrote:[

Re: Combo Stations
Well, my stations are both linked to the mainline, however this can cause trafficjams as about 99% of my trains use three tiles (ie there are three tiles where 99% of my trains pass (three track mainline with a tunnel underneath) thus 183 out of 186 (i think), either this runs smoothl or it jams up.aaronw wrote:

Excuse me, but I want to buy it in a Belgium store not further than 40 miles away so I can go back and complain about it being a dos version and not working on Win XP, but clearly saying on the box that it works on Win XP, or something similarMagicBuzz wrote:Don't tell stories...

When they decide to sell it in Belgium then I will buy it immediately without even looking at the price
A game of 1994 should be abandonware already, those stupid publishers are just little children
So I'm advising to download it for free from my signature
Edit: excuse me for my rage, but amazon are stupid, they rejected my visa even though other firms have no problem with it
Edit2: I sometimes use planes to transport gold from a distant goldmine to a bank or food to a distant town on the arctic climate, I think this is realistic
Edit3: welcome to our new member

Well, back to work, lot's of it in the near future
Edit4: (just kidding)
Go in "Problems" and download TTDHelp. You can find TTDX for download in the "General" forum under "Download Locations" (you want the one that says TTD for Windows (13.8 MB). If you download from the site that says you have to delete it after 24 hours, that's BS. People say this thinking they can get past copyright laws, but it's illegal whether you own it for one minute or one year. As if any copyright organization cares about a practically non-available game that was made in '94.

How many boards would the Mongols hoard if the Mongol hordes got bored?
