I have played Open TTD for a while and enjoyed the many GRF's that people have been so kind to make. I have noticed the project to create new 32 bit graphics and I would like to contribute to the project. I don't know anything about coding - I will only be able to contribute with graphics.
To be able to do this I will need to know the correct lightning and camera setup. I've noticed that most people use Blender which I know nothing about - I only know how to use 3d Studio Max. On the wiki there was a link to a 3dsmax template file but the link has gone dead.
I would be happy to be able to contribute to this exciting project.
The link to the 3dsmax template seems to be dead, but as suggested before, you can contact Ben Robbins ( though I had a PM from him recently that he's quite busy with RL at the moment). So if anyone else has the template (I don't use it, being a Blender user) , please post it again, we'll adapt the wiki to the new download location.
A big thumbs up from me, too! All I can say is that skills as a 3d artist are remarkable. Keep it up! You'll find that once you got the renders from the lighting setup gt1750 posted, getting them into the game is not that hard. I also offer to "code" them for you if you run into problems... just post here, that's actually faster than PM'ing me.
I have been working on a railway crossing and a large central station building. I don't know if the image files are the best size etc. for coding but if they're not please tell me how they should be instead.

This station is awesome, but it will need a new GRF file in 8bbp, to be replaced.

They are very good, but the rendered image is a bit small, but is very good. I think that 165 px of wide could be a good size.
I had a crossing without barriers, and I have made some PNGs (for preview) in GIMP, with more space between barriers:

Sorry if my english is too poor, I want learn it, but it isn't too easy.
The globe with the winged wheel on top of the station building gave me an idea for a replacement for the statue: a rostral column. Maybe it could replace other sprites in the game if people want to keep the statue of the company owner.

I tried making a 8bpp version of the station. I've never made any 8bpp graphics for OTTD so please correct me if there is something wrong with them (besides the obvious graininess).
PS: And I stopped the propaganda to support Dave Worley since he got a nice new red hat now.[/color]
I know I have a BBCode error in my signature but I really cba to fix it.

Here are some larger renderings.
