trains lost on simple but long track
I've recently encountered strange train behaviour in openTTD 0.5.3,
on 512 x 2048 map. There one straight mainline from one end of "strip" to the other,
with many RoRo station hubs. At some stations, trains completely fails leaving RoRo stations, although
properly signaled etc... they simply ignore the only exit track, and tries to enter station again from... strange
(see in the screenshot)
Also similar problems occured when new train buyed in the depot in RoRo station, assigned to load at station,
simply failed to enter station, but instead over and over again ttried to go to the mainline but in the wrong direction,
although there was no reason to go there... ending with the loop between depot and first semaphore on mainline exit.
any suggestions on this?

Re: trains lost on simple but long track
You've cocked up the layout of that station if my eyes don't deceive me. That final platform (the one the train is exiting from) only has a "turn right" piece of track leading from it instead of a "turn left" piece. That way, the train is aiming for the other platforms because it's physically unable to leave the station properly due to missing track.

My eyes see the same as Trippynet's!
This is something that happens to me with maglev tracks from time to time as well... Especially when I'm very very tired and still playing!

English is not my native language, so please excuse me if I sometimes might appear a bit harsh or if I make a spelling or grammar mistake!
Re: trains lost on simple but long track
That's right guys, I've had that 'problem' when playing with maglev.
There needs to be a piece of track pointing directly 'down' from the last full coal container.

What about you? Will you join me when the time comes to be a hero?

yes but he must of missed it, as even if he puts on that missing track the layout wont change - that happens very often to ppl i think

I think the point being: the current track layout and the corrected (with the missing piece of track) don't really look (much) different. Actually I failed so far to see the difference with maglev tracks having a v-type or k-type track layout on a single tile (consider one tile an tracks on it in the form of |/ or |< )Trippynet wrote:How do you mean?wojteks86 wrote:yes but he must of missed it, as even if he puts on that missing track the layout wont change - that happens very often to ppl i think

Once you know what to look for, it's not hard. See those perpendicular lines? If they aren't there, there's no track.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

When I try to make a complex juntion or something in MAGLEV I try to make this in Normal Railway first and convert to Maglev before.
