Simply by using one of the water tiles for slopes (those with the rocks) and combining them by appropriate bank and edge sprites, s. list below.

Wouldn't that be covered by "sharp curve single"?
No. Yours are combined sprites. Let me repeat myself in saying that TTDPatch doesn´t know "combined sprites", instead every tile is composed from single sprites.

OK, once more. These are all the needed sprites for TTDPatch:
mb wrote:- 4 water tiles for slopes (those with the rocks)

{
- 4 river bank sprites
- 4 sprites for inner edges
- 4 sprites for outer edges
} for each of the five allowed slope directions (flat, N, S, W, E)
total = 64

Thanks Michael. This old mind of mine is staring to get a handle on this. :D
Just one more question:
michael blunck wrote: - 4 sprites for inner edges

Am I correct to assume these refer to the curves at the corners?

Thanks again Michael. That is excellent. :D
@Ameecher, 2-10-0 and boekabart: I think that makes things quite simple, even for this old CPU that I call a brain. :lol:

Now, if you'll excuse me. I think I hear George calling me from over in his ECS thread. :wink:

Well, this cost me more time than releasing a first test file. 8) See http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?p=636586#p636586.

Excellent! As soon as Ameecher and 2-10-0 release their efforts the customers will have a choice and the customers (me! :D ) always enjoy a choice.

We're not as sophisticated when it comes to creation and understanding of grf files than your fine self, Michael. 8)

Sorry, no pun intended. I was just refering to the fact that answering Wally´s fine questions cost indeed more time than to add some missing vital things (checking patch flags, patch version, etc, pp) to a rivers test file I had lying around for quite some time. 8)

In this way, you may easily find out number and arrangement of all those sprites needed for creating rivers in TTDPatch.

However, much more work would be still needed to make the original concept work for all climates (sub-arctic, snow, desert, rainforest) with random and var actions. Ideas are there but time is scarce. 8)

I have decoded your riversw.grf file, Michael, and now understand how the .grf file is made up (your explanations were not in vain!). I'm going to have a conversation and see if we can get a .grf of our own released. :D

Thanks again Michael
