subsidiaries
as far as i understood, the subsidiaries will never be integrated into ottd, too bad it was a grate patch, damn bugs, but how about changing the idea:
when you have more then 51% of the company, you should have access to a menu from where you can say the AI what to build, not to take the control of the company,to take the control of "the brain".I'm not a coder, but i believe it would be easier to rewrite the code for a patch like this, witch makes it easier to keep the step with the nightlys .
please don't let this feature to die,is too cool to end here

In case you haven't noticed, your shift key seems to be broken, xmart2k. Please either fix it or buy a new keyboard.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Also, spaces after periods would be nice.

Re: subsidiaries
Just to complete the torture:
Disclaimer: No attempt was made to correct the grammatical mistakes in the above passage. If you start moaning at the three of us for being so Grammar-Nazified, blame the people who spread the art of "failing to understand grammar". We can understand spelling mistakes, but every language uses commas and full stops. There should be no excuse as to how to form such on a computer. Don't take it personally.xmart2k wrote:as far as i understood, the subsidiaries will never be integrated into ottd, too bad it was a great patch, damn bugs, but how about changing the idea:

It sure helps when you use your spacebar and shift key a bit if you want us to read your text...

Okay I'll put it simple, I'm also not a native English speaker and I know that my grammer sucks sometimes. But like what Dave pointed out, is that every language uses dots and comma's. After every dot (.) comes a space, and then the next word begins with a capital first letter. After a comma you can do the same but you can leave out the capital first letter.
Now if that is sorted out, let's see about some opinions!
I never knew the patch died, I still tought it was being in development. If it's not then the developers of OTTD would have a reason for not including it. (It maybe hackish/buggy code. Coding style in general etc.) What you can do if you are not sure, you may poke a developer directly in for example #openttd (The IRC channel) and ask your question there.

xmart2k, I wouldnt worry about it. Some people are just a bit pedantic here. I think no spaces after your punctuation is not the worst writing error that occurs.
Personally, I find those horrid abbreviations (which remind me of Text Speak, or TXT SPK) really quite bad. And Ive seen many of the 'writing Nazi's' use those!

Subsidiaries is a nice feature, and so is the resource sharing part, but the subsidiaries management part didn't work in multiplayer, and resource sharing opens up a whole new world of abuse (skipping signals, blocking tracks, etc...)
Not everyone plays multiplayer, but having different featuresets is suboptimal, so these problems need to be solved somehow.

He's like, some kind of OpenTTD developer.
Hmmm, so is that true that we wont get subsidiaries in Open?
I must have missed that info
I dont do any multiplayer [yet!!], but I would like to see subsidiaries for my single player games. Even if we had an on/off switch!
(Disclaimer: if subsidiaries are still in the development pipeline, then disregard my gibbering
)
xmart2k, yeah, I like the idea behind your patch. You just need to find someone who can code it. Or have a go yourself

i know a little c++, but i didn't really tried to understand the TTD code and now I'm a little busy with my graduation, so, i don't think that i will write a patch too soon
it was just an idea, maybe someone can use it, and i still believe that a patch where you can give orders to an AI manager, would be cool..and we'll have a smarter AI too

I'm glad you did that. That's my number one pet hate.PikkaBird wrote:Nazis.Ben_K wrote:Nazi's

Even though it technicly breaks the rules
Im going to start warning non regulars of this rule whenever its broken.

Formerly known as r0b0t_b0y2003, robotboy, roboboy and beclawat. The best place to get the most recent nightly builds of TTDPatch is: http://roboboy.users.tt-forums.net/TTDPatch/nightlies/
That book is nice, for punctuations (except the fact that I don't like the picture of the authur of the book).Ben_K wrote:Yes, its my pet-hate as well. Looks like Im going to have to get 'Eats, shoots and leaves' out again!
By the way, not all language use commas and fullstops to seperate things, e.g. in ancient Chinese they don't do seperations, and in modern Chinese, Japanese and Korean, they use。instead of full-stop (or period for Americans, dots for geeks) and in Japanese, they use、instead of comma.
