Whitehand, the whole point of this thread is for people to source graphics without having to forum search...

Hello,
I'm fairly new to the TTD forums, but I have actually played the game a long time, so I know the game mechanics quite well.
But when I look around at these forums I see screenshots with different graphic models and higher resolutions than my own version (patched deluxe).
Had no luck in trying to understand what y'all are saying in this thread, so I thought I'd better ask
How do I download and install all the different graphic models from this thread? And how do I set the resolution?
thanks in advance !

That question is bit wrong plase, but well.....Nefarious wrote:And how do I set the resolution?

If You play with patch then in TTD main directory must be ttdpatch.cfg. Open it with Notepad and then You have there all kinda switches! You must find 2 rows: resolutionheight and resolutionwidth and then set resolution (after these words) what You want !
Edit: About graphics You can read here!

one question though :S
I have now tried to reinstall the whole game - downloaded patch again along with a package of graphics from this site http://www.ttdpatch.net/
I put the things in a "newgrf" folder and made a file where i put the lines also, as the ReadMe says.
I downloaded the game itself from another site though, the only site so far where i found a .reg file that worked (or maybe I'm just being stupid).
Now, my question
I don't get any new graphics at all... How can that be?

you probably have to activate them ingame.
Go to the tools menu (see screen 1) and then to "new graphics status"
Then you get a window (screen 2) where you can see all the .grf files which you have specified in your newgrf.cfg
Activate them by clicking on the red square infront of each line until it becomes green.
Hope that helps.

Somehow I don't see any "New graphics Status" under my tools in-game :S
I followed all manuals i got along with the files, put the newgrf folder into my TTD directory, do I have to anything with that folder?
I also modified the file "newgrfw.cpg" so that it has lines like:
"newgrf/arcticsetw.grf
newgrf/cargosetw.grf
newgrf/dbsetw.grf
newgrf/tropicstw.grf
newgrf/elrailsw.grf
newgrf/newshipsw.grf
newgrf/signalsw.grf
newgrf/tempsetw.grf
newgrf/trkfoundw.grf
newgrf/LongBusesw.grf
newgrf/McTrucksw.grf
newgrf/ScaniaTrucksw.grf
newgrf/VolvoTrucksw.grf
newgrf/SpitzerTrucksw.grf
newgrf/NavistarTrucksw.grf"
in it.
Am i missing something very important?

"newgrfw.cpg" must be newgrf.cfgNefarious wrote: I also modified the file "newgrfw.cpg" so that it has lines like:

And are You sure Your cfg is cfg? when I start playing I had problem newgrf.cfg was newgrf.cfg.txt That means that just rename the fail don't help you! Open Notepad and take 'Save As' ... then change fail type to 'All fails' and click 'Save'

Yes. You failed to specify the version of TTDPatch that you are using. (Try a version that is less than three years old, please.)Nefarious wrote:Am i missing something very important?
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Alright, I opened newgrfw.cfg with notepad. Clicked on:
"files" ->
"save as" ->
"Filename: newgrfw.cfg" ->
changed file type from .txt to "all files" ->
"save" ->
Overwrite existing file? "yes".
Still no graphics status in-game, am I doing it wrong?
edit: the patch used: (copy/pasted from ttdpatch.net
"Development versions
(see below for the list of files)
Current version: 2.5 beta 9 from October 29, 2006.
latest.zip for DOS TTD
latestw.zip for Windows TTD "
I downloaded and installed the windows latestw.zip
At start screen it says Transport Tycoon Deluxe, TTDpatch 2.0 rev 1

There is no graphics status window under 2.0rev1, so indeed you started 2.0rev1. But the download location is correct; are you absolutely sure you did the following:
- unzip the latest(w).zip to your TTD folder (the archive should contain 2 files, one of which is named ttdpatch(w).exe), and then
- start the game by double-clicking ttdpatch(w).exe?

When i start the game, on start screen an error message comes up:
Error loading new graphics: "File newgrf/ttdbbase.grf not found"
I guess i have to search around for that file? And toss it into my "newgrf" folder? And add another line in newgrfw.cfg with "newgrf/ttdbbase.grgf" ?
If any of you guys know the file and where to find it, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks though, for all
I found the file, installed it. I see it in my graphics status window and have turned it on. Also downloaded the "newstatsw.grf" for v. 2.5 beta 9, and turned that one on also.
My last question will be, how do I make the new stations actually show in-game? Switched on and stuff, I'm still getting the same original ones.
(Playing in temperate clima, that should be compatible)
Hmm, getting new industries to show now, and roads too. Missing stations
Any clues?

There are two drop-down menus in the station construction window. When you build a rail station, you need to use them to select what kind of station (or station part) you want to build. The top one chooses the category of station, the bottom one chooses the specific station from that category.

... and the other problem is easily solved: Just get the ttdpbasew.zip from the Patchsite, put it into your newgrf folder and include it in your newgrf.cfg - just as you guessed
