As a side note (once again, MB, sorry for this off-topic), what is the Tractive Effort of a Transrapid?

In fact... How does the propulsion work, are all carriages propulsed forward?

For "Transrapid 06" (the newest type and the one portraied in DBSet) its 85 to 90 kN, depending on the source you cite. That may not sound like much, but the Transrapid does not have to overcome friction the way the (conventional) railways have to.

No, actually none are. The propulsion is included in the right of way by means of a so called Linear Motor. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linear_motor and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maglev_train for details.

There are two new/redesigned locomotives for the next version of the DBXL:

Image

This is the redesigned east german BR250/155 freight locomotive, and

Image

this is the new BR143 (former east german BR243) which will replace the BR112 from the current set. The new engine is best used in regional and S-Bahn services, e.g. with bi-levels, and it´ll be capable for push-pull services as in RL.

Both engines are in three liveries: original DR "bordeaux red" until 1992 (a compromise), then in DB´s orient red livery with that "bib" until 1998, then in the usual DB traffic red.

I´d like to thank Georg for his usual help with time frames and liveries.

Push-pull service? Do you mean the locomotive will stay at the back of the train when turning around?

Yes, of course. As discussed here it looks that way:

[edit: the BR141 with various coaches and driving trailers]

O/c there will be only a couple of locos with that feature though, because this isn´t a programmer-friendly patch feature, ATM.

Looking impressive, as usual, Michael.

One question though, are you using (or going to use) the extra space for text to include short notes on engine usage and such things?

Not sure if I've asked this before, it's the type of thing I would ask.

Yes, of course. See attached screenshots. (Those are in german because I only have the german DOS version and am too lazy to setup the australian windows version right at the moment. 8) )

I´ll translate it for you:

ET-31: 3-part EMU for regional and long-distance services. Links max 9 parts.

E91: 3-part electric locomotive for heavy freight services.

In addition, there´s also the axle scheme (though not for DMUs/EMUs) and the manufacturer included.

I think you did. Anyway ...

You could try it, Ameecher.

I strongly suspect that MB did not say it straight out because he doesn't want the address-scrapers to pick up on it. You should follow suit.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

[The point is about refitting TEE coaches]
earlwarren wrote:That refitting option would be totally utterly awesome. The oldest pictures of the red/ cream-oceanblue/ cream intercities which I found date back to 1983. So you are quite right with 1985.
I´ve implemented this feature now for the 103 (after 1979). Funny thing is that it was already in existence for the V200, so I thought it´d be a good idea to make it a common feature for all TEE trains, i.e. the 103, the (new) 112 and the 120. Here´s a screenshot:

so it randomly fits some coaches in the old-style painting scheme? quite realistic.

No, you´ll have to refit the coaches to either first class or second class passengers to get the livery change.

By the way, a small question: Would it be hard to set the starting date of the early locos to the real dates to have locos available before 1920? I don't know how it's in TTDP, but in OpenTTD it's possible to start before 1920 and it would be super awesome to have a big net running before the start of the "Rheingold"...

The DB Set is being developed for TTDPatch and not for OTTD. In consequence, a feature only available for OTTD but messing up things under TTDPatch won´t be included.

See http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?p=520876#520876 for a more detailed discussion on this. In short: using "start years" before 1920 would mess up my concept of "second-hand engines", ATM.

On another note, I´ve redesigned the BR120 and BR101. Being on this, I´ve also included the "Metropolitan" train together with the 101:

Image

The "Metropolitan" was a highly praised premium express train connecting Hamburg and Cologne between the years 1999 and 2004. It got cancelled in favour of the ICE "Sprinter", though.

I have some questions.
Are the "push-pull" gonna work on every train (steamers and maglevs too)?

Are this gonna work when you are using engines on both sides? or using for example an electric engine on one end and a diesel on the other one?

Can you manually choose between the different liveries of the trains or it will be chosen randomly or is it gonna cycle between them?
