That one's fast, but it's terrible on hills. I prefer the Brenner.

Isn't the Brenner the most expensive Running Cost and Gas Price engine?? Why would you use that!! The farther they go the more expensive the gas.. I use the Diesel that has a base speed of 106mph.. I think that is the D7 or D9 or something like that. :D
TTDX Nothin better...Nuff said!!...Need any other entertainment visit http://furdude2.proboards43.com/index.cgi an see if anyone has any of this interests as well.
I got a IRC channel too!! go to Quakenet then go to #furdude2

True, but it's the fastest everywhere - even on mountains.

I always liked using the 2-6-2 Prairie for short, local type runs. Only really came into good use once I got RT2:TSC with the storage options. Also good for that sort of thing are the 4-4-0 D16sb and the 2-6-0 Camelback; good cheap locomotives.

If electrification is affordable I ususally go with the GG1 and the Brenner if I can get them. GG1 is indestructible and Brenner climbs mountains like a goat.

I'm not big on the 4-6-2 Pacific; not good in the mountains I like to play in, and not reliable enough for me. I usually substitute 2-8-2 Mikados or GG1s. But it does have its uses.

I like the Claud Hamilton and the Ten Wheeler from the original RRT; the Mikado, F3, and GP9 from RRT2. Great engines to build an empire with. The RRT original engines just look cool.

The one you get in 2015 or whatever in RRT3. And The Mallard, of course.

I was just playing a RRT3 campaign game (the Orient Express scenairo) and chose "invest in science and technology" at the game start. When it gave me a choice between increased speed and increased pulling power, I picked speed. Wow! The 2-8-0 Consolidation now runs 75 mph! The Sterling runs up in the 90s, but it "won't pull a settin' hen off the nest." So the upgraded Consol is now my fav in RRT3.

Is the Whale loco in RRT3(Orca N4X or something like that)based on a real locomotive?

New favorite - the Norfolk & Western 4-8-0 Mastodon (available on the custom content page at Hawk & Badger (hawkdog.com)

Expensive, but worth it. Fills in the gap where the 2-8-2 Mikado should go in the game.
