Agreed.

The way you made those piers is very imaginative!

Mr. the Irish;

Very impressive stuff! Sir, may I ask where you got the 'Belmont Station'? It's far out, Man! 8)

Hi Jim,

That station is part of the last USStation set. I think you know where to find them.
:D

Unfortunately, I had a complete system crash, resulting in complete rebuilding of my PC. I also lost this game, my beautifull handmodeled scenario. damn it.

No more pictures from that game

Sorry to hear this

Post by Jim Powers »

Dear Mr. Irish;

Wow, I'm sure sorry to hear this. I know how hard it is to lose a scenario after
just making it. A couple of years ago, I had just made "Outrageous Outback"and was
renaming it on my files, along with the BU and somehow I lost them both and at that
time I had built the largest city ever in TTD. That's why my next scenario was called
"Outrageous Outback II". I wished I could help you, Buddy. :x

Thanks anyway, I thought I had the latest US Station grf, but, I guess I don't.

Always,
Jim Powers

Sorry to hear it. My HDD crashed a few months ago, and I lost a lot of perfect TTD scenarios, most unposted on the forums :(. I was planning to save them up and release them at once.

Yeah, so was I. I actually planned it to release at the end of the weekend, after some small modifications/perfections on the scenario. now it's all gone.

Well, more luck next time. I will post it immediatly next time.

A few miscellaneous US Set pictures from a Sub-Arctic game.

Screen 1:
A brand-new HSE-10 trails a slower passenger train headed by two F59PHIs, with bi-levels that make it the only train on the network even more colourful than the 'Sunset'. The huge bridges are used by the long wood trains of Narnia (hey, I didn't name these towns :P). Narnia itself is where the Sunset will pass through later on.

Screen 2:
Arriving at the Sonhill Inlet terminus, the Sunset is forced to wait for the relatively new fuel cell powered *deep breath* GP25FCCs, carrying goods from the refinery in the north-east. Passengers strain their necks to get a peek of the retired Amtrak GG1 next to the station.

Screen 3:
With a running cost of over half a million dollars a year, miles above that of any other train, the Sunset's route required optimisation to fully take advantage of its speed. Gone are the suspension bridges and in their place are the very durable, if less graceful, cantilevers.

Screen 4:
Arriving at Daningville (somehow I have a feeling someone named the city after himself  ). The main station is connected with the airport, a bus station, and a smaller train station for the EMUs, to suck out as many passengers and mail as...er...to give maximum coverage area for the good of the city.

Screen 5:
Our Sunset prepares to enter the long tunnels of Wukheah mountain, perfect for its speed, as it zooms past an older sister. An improvised train-spotting shack is also being built just to the left of the road.

Screen 6:
The mountains are incomparably busier than they were just 50 years ago; space is at a premium, as shown by the forced sharing of tracks with fast (i.e. twice as slow as the HSE-10 ;)) goods trains. The area has long lost its dramatic, natural scenery, but being able to look down on the skyscrapers of Slarninghead, to the south-west, is not much worse.

Now, some screenshots of either global warming or a Sub-Tropical game! :D

Screen 7:
That's not oil you see being hauled across the maize fields, but rubber, for the Bender City factories. I was worried such a large number of tankers would be too heavy, but the Mountain seems to make short work of...everything. The year is 1921.

Screen 8:
Nothing exciting happened between 1921 and now, apart from taxes, interest payment and more rubber delivery. Eventually, enough money was earned to construct a new copper line, also to the Bender City factories, originating from the west. Once again, a Mountain was used.

Screen 9:
The main source of the company's copper, with two high-output mines. I actually had to bribe the local authority very early on in order to get permission to enlarge the station. The lines branching east go to another copper mine, serviced by a Mikado (soon to become Mikados), shown in the small vehicle screen. Meanwhile, a Mountain with fully-laden copper wagons prepares to enter the jungle...

Screen 10:
I almost regretted buying Mikados for even short copper trains...but the slopes seen here are the steepest they will have to climb, so I figured I should spend my money somewhere else. Mt. Rudge can be seen getting a 'shave', in the foreground.

Screen 11:
The artery of my network, still missing some signals, but it works well enough and ensures that trains head for their correct destinations.

Screen 12:
Finally the copper line becomes properly double-tracked. And if it wasn't, this would still be a nice jungle picture. ;)

Screen 13:
I don't want to type. I want to relax on this beach. Hm, preferably without being disturbed by two Mikados on freight. :P

Screen 14:
Bender City is the largest settlement on this archipelago, but the jungle remains a forbidding place. Only entrepreneurial transport companies with silly names dare venture into the thick vegetation.

Screen 15:
Time to fill those tankers with some real oil! How can any transport company resist 3 oil wells situated so closely together? The single line branching to the north-west is for the unbought goods train. The oil itself will be delivered to Bender City North, right next to the oil refinery we saw earlier.

A little beside question now I see the US Set.
Are there signal boxes in the stations from the US Set?

Screen 16:
The marvels of PBS come to the rescue once again. You can also see different exit routes for full goods and empty oil trains, with the latter taking the western route over the bridge, since they are obviously lighter. The company has only been in existence for a couple years, so this system is currently unproven.

Screen 17:
Not so bad...the goods train on the far left, under pressure to deliver its chemicals on time, takes the shorter route and escapes some heavy traffic while the empty oil train must wait for the signal to clear. Seen here is a very unusual congregation of trains, since the company only has 9 trains and its network is quite spread out.

Screen 18:
Excellent money is paid on delivery. :) The company's future looks as bright as the sub-tropical sun beaming down on the landscape and its railway lines already span across the continent, all in 4 years' (as in, a day's ;)) work.

No, there aren't, but you can always make your own using the non-stop order. The ones in my screenshots are from Michel Blunck's Newstations.

Aargh! Shaving Mt. Rudge!

Very nice shots, White Rabbit. :) Any chance of a saved game perhaps?

Thanks, I suppose custom-made scenarios just have better screenshot scenery. :D

I can upload my Sub-Arctic game, (in fact, it's already been uploaded: http://tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?p=422750#422750), but remember that my Sub-Tropical one has only been going on for 4 years, so what you see in the screenshots is pretty much it. ;)

Some pics from my latest game (probably the last one for a while, real life taking its toll...), played on a random mountainous map.

Engineers had some difficulty tackling the terrain. A lot of curves were necessary to make the tracks being usable also for freight trains.
