Currently as I can see the system around stock is for buying and selling and that's only thing at present. You can make some serious money by buying stock at a low price and selling at high, but that's about it. I have come think about a small expansion which would greatly improve gameplay, especially during multiplayer games.
NOTE: These suggestions are not based on reallife economics, but is an attempt to improve the gameplay.
My first suggestion is that stock prices should be more random.
The current price of stocks, as far as I can see is this
- Company Value * Stock%
Adding in performance rating on this transaction could make the prices a bit more along the lines of how the company is working out. (I've never played with Fluctuating ecomony, but that might also offer some option for randomness in stockprices)
Price of stocks (buying and selling)
- ((Performance Rating / 1000) * Company Value) * Stock%
Now currently trading stocks have no change for the user that is playing the company where the stock is bought or sold, I suggest that this be changed, so that when you buy stocks at a company the money you pay for the stocks go directly to the player that owns the company. That would give him a "little" extra money to play around with. This should then ofcourse come back to "hunt" the player when the stock owner then sells the stock owned, these money should come directly from the players money.
But the biggest change is here, in real life if you own stocks you get a dividend, that is probably the longterm reason for investing (well the opportunity to sell at higher price is also a good point).
I propose that once every year (when last years budget comes up) there will be a payoff to investors. Because then it would be really funny to own stocks in other companies. The way I would calculate this would be as following.
- ((Yearly total * 5%) * (Performance Rating / 1000)) * Stock%
That way the better a company is ran the more money goes to stock holders. This should of course also go the other way, so when you have a negative Yearly total, the stock holders will have to cover the (percentage owned) cost.
