Is it realistic that the antenna tower is higher than necessary, since the dishes (I believe that's how they're called, aren't they?) are below the top?

Yep, it seems like being 3 to 4 tiles high, IMO.

If the scafolding hadn't gone all the way up and just ended where the dishes are, you'd have a less strong structure.

But then the dishes can be placed up (for better functioning), or the complete tower structure could be scaled down (for lower costs).

I could add some radio/cellphone transmitters up there if that will make you happy.

slightly OT - but would it be good for radio masts to be built automatically as the game progresses as more broadcast and phone networks are built?

When I play, mobile phones are banned due to the health risks for OpenSims, and watching TV is only possible via satellite.

In other words, I always destroy transmitters with the magic bulldozer. Even lighthouses aren't exempt.

I really like this idea.
Also I think transmitter number should depend on the map size ((X+Y/2)/12), giving maximum of 5 transmitters per the smallest map or 171 transmitters on 2048x2048 map... Just my two cents.

why not be able to replace them? it would have to be close to where it stood (close ranged, or how do you call that?), and quite expensive, but why would a company not invest in such thing if it's really neccesary?
